What are the chances of a full recovery?

I know nobody can say for sure, but what are the chances of a full recovery from this scenario - friend has been assaulted, broken ribs, skull fracture, collapsed with a brain bleed in hospital, now in ICU in an induced coma. It's been three days. Some slight signs of responsiveness today.
I'm not actively visiting, family visitors only, and I know nobody can tell what is going to happen for my friend, but is there any chance that they could make a full healthy recovery?

The skull fracture was caused by falling and hitting their head while they were being mugged.

It depends on so many things, but yes, your friend can get better eventually.

I think the family feels there is a chance that my friend might not make it, at least they felt that yesterday, maybe less so today.

Sending a prayer to your friend.

My dad had a haemorrhagic stroke (stroke caused by bleed on the brain), and spent about 8 days in a coma. He initially was paralysed on one side all the way down, and both legs, but over the months he was able to regain use of both arms and legs. He can now walk and do most things with his hands, however needs a wheelchair for longer distances because of his balance.

The early days were very agonising, not knowing what was going to happen to him. He gradually became more responsive to us, and while initially he had no memories at all, over time he was able to regain almost all of his memory back.

He has some mild personality changes, however overall his recovery has been pretty good. Obviously we wish he had 100% returned to "normal", but this is good enough for him and us.

I hope you have been able to take some positives from that, I wanted to give a realistic picture. But I truly believe a full recovery can be possible, especially if your friend is well supported with physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychological services, as required. All the best.

There's every chance. My brother had a serious brain injury similar to your friend and was also in an induced coma. It took a while but he's got there. Has a few balance and memory problems but overall recovering well.

Over a month on now, and it has been difficult. They have been at dealths door repeatedly due to further brain bleeds and infection, but slowly have made some improvement. Sadly it seems as if my friend will be permanently disabled mentally and physically, we do not know the extent yet. We have no idea what the future will hold.
