I think I need a shopping trolley

I've moved to a smallish market town and I'm delighted to be in walking distance of a smallish town centre. But fuck me I can't carry any heavy bags. I think I need a wheelie shopping trolley.

I would quite like one that folds down so I don't have to leave it around the house, but are they annoyingly floppy when you open them up?

Becca I find that a wire basket sits nicely on the lid of mine and holds a lot.But the weeks I buy all the bottles, well, I go round twice!

Op stated fuck me I can't carry any bags

Mildmanneredmum · 03/10/2018 10:28

I bought mine from Lakeland. Wish I'd done it years ago.

I think a lot of people feel once they've got one they're brilliant. It's just the way they're seen, by others and ourselves. I was the same about having a walking stick!

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 03/10/2018 11:13

And there was me worrying about getting one and feeling old. I am over 70, I'll go and order one now.

Becca19962014 · 03/10/2018 11:48

I was 25 when I got my first one!

Becca19962014 · 03/10/2018 11:48

And the options were nothing like they are now!

UpstartCrow · 03/10/2018 11:59

I've had my Hoppa for about 8 years, and its just had to have a new base for the bag.

lynmilne65 · 03/10/2018 15:39

Am ordering a leopard skin one immediately

I don't think I'll use it for a big supermarket shop, tbh, more like pottering round a load of shops where you get a couple of bits in each one and end up breaking your arms trying to carry all the Zoflora.

I bloody love living in a small town with a proper town centre, hope it doesn't die off. can't stop buying things from Amazon tho

I bought a purple spotty one from Argos a few years ago. It's only a two wheeler but holds a massive amount of heavy stuff and has lasted well - I'd been resigned to my cheaper purchases breaking a wheel off within two years if full and being pulled askew up the kerb or over my front door sil, but this one handles all the rough treatment I throw at it. Don't know how to put a picture up, sorry, but it's still in the Argos catalogue/online at £22 something... I keep mine in the understairs half-cupboard as it folds back fairly flat so doesn't take a lot of space. It fits well in the boot of a taxi too, and doesn't take up much room on the bus.

I too walk with a stick but can pull the trolley behind me easily. I just don't go out shopping if it's raining because I don't have an extra hand for the umbrella!

I've got a great Reisenthel one but it doesn't fold. They do do a foldable one though...www.reisenthel.com/en/foldabletrolley.html?varID=2ce43ee637aba44e240007e4ce52d404

I bought my nan this one, a sturdy Typhoon one. It does fold and the frame and material is very sturdy. Its so bright and cute I have considered one for myself to do more short shopping walks without the car. www.amazon.co.uk/Typhoon-1401-911-Apple-Heart-Trolley/dp/B0059FH4YQ?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I bought one when I broke my wrist and couldn’t drive. It’s got funky colourful dogs on and I love it. I think I got it from The Range in the end (I looked at lots!).

There are 3 for sale currently in.our local Mind charity shop ... I have been thinking I need one 😉

I live in Paris where lots of people have them and there are lots of funky designs available. Like a previous poster, I succumbed when I got rid of my pushchair - I’d kept it long after ds really needed because it was so useful for carrying things. No one shops by car here so a trolley is really essential if you want to get anything heavy. If I’m doing a supermarket shop I take it in empty and then fill it up on the way round so I don’t buy more than I can carry. If you already have stuff in your trolley from visiting other shops then it is customary to leave it by the till and collect it when you pay. Couldn’t live without mine, make sure you get a sturdy one though - my first one was foldable and it didn’t really do the job.

I have the Ikea one here Sorry had to use ebay link as couldn't seem to post link from the website. It's £19 from Ikea. Bought it for the same reasons - small town, easy walking distance. And also missed being able to use the buggy. Been good for family picnics, places like Legoland when we've need to pile in packed lunches plus wet-weather gear, towels etc. I am mocked by my children but they fight over who's going to wheel it once we get going. It's very lightweight but doesn't fold. Handy zip pocket on the back for your purse, a zipped pouch inside and a clip for your keys.

My MIL had trolley envy but really had no space to store it so I bought her one of these folding ones. Think she's very happy with it although not used as frequently as ours. I remember there being a YouTube video featuring a hip and trendy college lecturer to show you how it operates.

NeverPromisedYouARoseGarden · 04/10/2018 08:49

Actually I'm going to post this link to the folding one as there are better reviews. It's a Rolser Plegamatic. Not sure why they're calling it a Casual Daypack...
