Colourful New Baby Clothes!

I have to buy a present for a new baby boy, born today. Not allowed to buy anything in "traditional" baby boy blue, so am looking for recommendations for bright, colourful "fun" clothes. Will probably buy size 3 - 6 months. I thought Boden would be the answer, but I am finding their stuff a bit wishy washy so wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Have you tried Frugi?

Otherwise, are you sure 3-6 is okay? My 10 month old is only just going into that now!

FlibbertyGiblets · 02/10/2018 18:28

Frugi?

Natsku · 02/10/2018 18:29

Can you get any of the Nordic brands? They tend to be very colourful

boots are normally good for bright patterned baby grows.

InvisibleToEveryone · 02/10/2018 18:32

I bought one of these was great!

Or boots had some good colourful stuff too.

KoshaMangsho · 02/10/2018 18:32

Little Green Radicals. They make beautiful colourful clothes.

SnuggyBuggy · 02/10/2018 18:33

I also like the boots mini club stuff

WhatInTheWorldIsGoingOn · 02/10/2018 18:34

Little Bird at Mothercare is very bright!

BinksyB · 02/10/2018 18:42

Maxomorra and I second Frugi. It’s colourful but less in your face than Maxomorra.

Boots have fab bright coloured stuff. I've just bought a bright rainbow stripe romper

Antonia87 · 02/10/2018 18:48

Thank you so much! These look exactly like the sort of thing I was looking for, so will have a browse in the morning! I thought to go with 3-6 months as he was 8lb birth weight, and I know his mum was given a lot of first size clothes at her baby shower.

Seeing as you have been so helpful, any recommendations for first books to buy? I want to build him his own little library over time, and have lots of ideas, but nothing really stands out as a special welcome book. Don't really want a board book, as he seems to have lots of those already!

I would never have thought of Boots! My 20 year old had lots of their stuff when she was a baby, but I didn't realise they still produced baby clothes!

The boots stuff washes well as well.. my dd lives in their tunics..!

As for books we’ve enjoyed the Tony Mitten book - started on trains then i bought the rest of the set..

BikeRunSki · 02/10/2018 19:06

YY to Boots, H&M, John Lewis (boys, but often bright without car/digger logos).

KoshaMangsho · 02/10/2018 21:03

Depends on what they have already. But you could go classic with ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’ or a newer book like ‘There’s an Owl in my Towel’ which is DS2’s favourite. There is always ‘Tiger Who Came to Tea.’

My favourite new baby toy is the Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes. Wanky name. But it has kept two children calm through innumerable nappy changes and the music won’t drive you nuts.

KoshaMangsho · 02/10/2018 21:04

The new American favourite which DS2 also likes is Llama Llama Red Pajama.

On The Night You Were Born is a lovely book to gift to a baby.

fiorentina · 02/10/2018 21:53

Polarn y Pyret are great for bright colours.

As a mum of 15 week old baby born at 8lbs 3oz, I would say definitely get 3-6 month like you planned or bigger. My baby is in 6-9 month now, while staying on the same centile line from birth. Everyone gifted me up to 1 month (born to big so never got to wear) and 0-3 month, he didn't get to wear most of them... Had way too many and outgrew them in no time!

To answer your actual question, I would also recommend boots. Tesco has lovely baby clothes but I would say they're more boy-girl than bright.
