Looking for a smooth yougurt like petit filous but with less sugar?

Johnb0y · 01/10/2018 23:21

I'm trying to get more calcium into my son but don't want to give him too much sugar.
He won't eat any yougurt with bits in it.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Greek yogurt is good.
Not too bitter.

Would cheese be any good?

Blondie1984 · 01/10/2018 23:35

The flavoured Skyr ones are good - smooth and not much added sugar (yoghurt will always have some sugar in the form of lactose)

Veterinari · 01/10/2018 23:39

Petit filo is is fromage frais not yogurt, so you could try straight fromage frais/quark/Greek yoghurt with fruit/raisins/honey

MelonBuffet · 01/10/2018 23:41

Just buy Greek yogurt and pop some fruit purée in it if he likes it a bit sweeter.

Lulubelle15 · 01/10/2018 23:47

I give my little boy the little yeos organic yoghurt.

dameofdilemma · 02/10/2018 14:04

The only yoghurt (other than plain yoghurt) I've found without sugar added (as opposed to natural sugars from the milk/fruit) is either the Collective Suckies pouches or the Rachel kids pots (not the normal Rachels pots).

Or plain greek yoghurt with some fresh fruit added. Fruit puree has a lot of sugar in itself.

Aldi do a good Greek style yogurt in a big tub so less waste of both food.and packaging. kids yogurts are a horrible wasteful ripoff.

just chuck in a bit of what he likes.

MrsPear · 02/10/2018 15:33

Turkish or Greek yogurt. If he is just started weaning then he shouldn’t reject as he has developed the sweet tooth.

villamariavintrapp · 02/10/2018 15:35

The Yeo valley fromage frais doesn’t have sugar added.

Redken24 · 02/10/2018 15:36

Yeo valley yogs are lovely!

Asterado · 02/10/2018 15:37

We get the buckets of Onken plain yogurt and add fruit purée or honey to sweeten it

RiddleyW · 02/10/2018 15:39

My DS has always just had plain full fat yoghurt usually Greek as I like it. Then berries added.

StoatofDisarray · 02/10/2018 15:40

Fage 5% Greek-style yoghurt is the biz.

OhWifey · 02/10/2018 15:40

Collective Suckies
Little Yeo Fromage Frais
Rachel Organic Kids

Stuckforthefourthtime · 02/10/2018 15:46

We also do plain yoghurt and occasionally add some fruit or homemade puree. They like Yeo and Onken much more than Greek.
Would he be ok with proper prices of fruit, even if he doesn't like small bits? We chop up banana or add frozen fruit in the morning (we buy the big freezer packs of berries, tropical mix etc) then it also keeps it cold.

Johnb0y · 02/10/2018 18:15

I should have said that he's 12 so well past weaning!

Grin omg!

Yes thick Greek yoghurt, pref the full fat one as it keeps you full for longer, with berries and/or honey. I buy bags of frozen forest fruit and defrost overnight.

I also add some lemon flavouring sometimes to plain yoghurt.

BellMcEnd · 02/10/2018 18:39

Grin that we all thought he was a baby. My 10 year old loves full fat Greek yoghurt with raisins, toasted seeds, desiccated coconut, chia seeds, oats and a little bit of honey. It’s one of his favourite breakfasts and fills him up for ages.

BellMcEnd · 02/10/2018 18:40

Diana adding lemon sounds lush. Definitely going to try that!

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/10/2018 18:41

I currently really like plain quark, very thick and filling, we both like it plain but sometimes add some honey.
I also love The Collective banana suckies, but v expensive foe what they are so don't buy them too often.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/10/2018 18:42

Dd not a baby either, she's 17!
