So naproxen ruined my insides, so the Gp gave me 30mg codiene tobtake at night. I had awful intrusive thoughts and started to feel depressed. Anyone else had this? I’ve had to stop the tablets....

The pain has returned in my hip. I have bursitis diagnosed but the GP won’t give me a cortisone injection because I haven’t used painkillers for long enough.
Naproxen made my insides hurt.
Codiene really affected my MH very quickly.
I just couldn’t work out why I was feeling so different so suddenly.
Now I’ve stopped these tablets I feel ok again but the pain has returned.

I have to walk my dogs every day so I can’t rest my hip.

I’ve had this issue for 6 months. I’m sure it’s linked to being Peri menopausal. The pain and aching wakes me up at night 😪

You sound just like I used to be before I had a new hip!
The NHS made me jump through all these hoops too.
I spent three years in pain and stress going to physio, GPs, cortisone injections, aqua aerobics etc.
Make sure it really IS bursitis.Insist on a proper diagnosis by a consultant. If this GP won't co=operate then try another one.
If necessary scrape up the money for a private consultation.
Keep hacking away at it cos it's not going to go away. Good luck.

Did you take Omaprezole with the Naproxen that might stop your insides from hurting. Codeine does make some people feel wobbly would a lower dose be better. I find I’m fine on 15mg but 30mg is too strong. 15mg is still twice over the course strength and it does help with pain. I have RA and codeine is the only thing that really stops the pain in the bad days.

counter strength not course strength

no, the gp didn't give me omaprezole to take with the naproxen, she said when I went back that usually only older people need it so they didn't give it to me. (im 44)
I cant face taking the codeine again. the feelings were awful, I felt so sad and lonely. ( im not sad and lonely)

I don't like codiene either. It makes me feel down and crap.

How people get addicted is beyond me.

I took Naproxen with omperazole and still had agonising stomach pain after a week on it. The fact that your GP never prescribed Omelrazole at all is abismal.
Nice hot cup of stomach ulcers anyone?

I have bursitis in my hip. If you can see an osteopath that might be a good move. Your gp sounds rubbish.
I was advised to take tumeric supplements to reduce the inflammation.
I also had some ultrasound treatment.
IMO it is negligent to prescrible naproxen without omeprazole.

Naproxen absolutely broke my stomach! I already take lansoprazole for reflux and even that didn't help. Codeine makes me feel a little down but not to the extent you describe.
I would speak to your doctor and ask to be referred to a pain specialist. They should be able to sort some medication that helps with the pain but that's also suitable for you and doesn't affect your mood.
