Driving test advice

Apologies for the possibly stupid question but...

Can anyone who’s sat their driving test this year tell me if you just take your photo card license with you or do need the paper counterpart too? The DVLA website isn’t very clear. I just needed my photo card for my theory test, so I’m assuming this will be the same? Just before I start turning on lights to rake through my paperwork folders 😅

I am in Northern Ireland and I definitely needed the paper part too.

I thought paper parts were no longer used in Britain? Or is that just when you have already passed your test?
Have you tried googling it?

SpoonBlender · 01/10/2018 00:20

Just take it anyway. It's not supposed to be needed, but why risk it?

Hi,
I say it 2 weeks ago in north England and only took my photo license. I’ve been told the The paper counterpart isn’t used at all here, the green photo card is all you need.

Sat it two weeks ago*

Photo card only for me. It should say on your confirmation email?

safariboot · 01/10/2018 02:33

The paper counterpart was made obsolete three years ago.

That’s great thanks! The confirmation just said to bring my licence and because my provisional was issued when paper counterparts were still used I wasn’t sure if that meant I needed it.
