An acquaintance of mine is taking part in the London Marathon for a charity in care a lot about. She had to raise a considerable amount of money in advance. I won't say how know her as it would be very outing but we're not close friends, she is part of a very cliquey group of friends. The raffle was drawn online (Facebook) tonight . They were really good prizes but it was the cause that rrally made me want to enter. A while before the draw she made a big announcement of the time, there was banter from a member of close 'clique'about the prIze she wanted and the responses from the organiser were I hope you win it. I just had gut feeling ithat it was rigged. The draw took place in her living room with her young son picking the tickets. The first winner was the clique member who had made the comment about which prize she wanted , the next prize went to another member of the clique and then all the other prizes went to really close friends or family. There 100 tickets sold and no one outside her circle won anything!
Ithe could be am amazing coincidence but if it isn't although she's not pocketing the money, she could be manipulating businesses to hand over free meals, massages for her friends in the name of a good cause. I've taken part in raffles before and not won and is never bothered me so I'm not a sore loser but 7 d like to think that if I've paid for the chance, my name in the hat . The trouble is she's doing more raffles in the coming months up until the marathon and I'm not happy about it. Would it be out of terms to contact the charity anonymously so they can check to see if it's all being done above board.
