Brexit (sorry!) am I missing something?

I've spent the afternoon on the company of a delightful late middle aged couple telling me how the country's gone the the dogs, Brexit is a fabulous thing and they can't wait to retire so they can move to Spain.

Surely after Brexit Spain won't automatically accept every British retiree who fancies a bit of sun?

Ha ha they're going to have a cold damp retirement Grin

I had sort of the same with a friend whose mother lives in Spain, but she (friend) voted Leave. I asked her wasn't she worried what would/might happen with her mother. She said it would make no difference Confused

Why did you choose to spend time with them, discuss Brexit with them and then post on here the same old stuff so that the other ageists can agree with you and you can feel that you have made it clear that you are neither middle aged nor stupid.

Debate, explore, discuss, argue - yes. But this is tired OP.

MrsReacher1 · 30/09/2018 22:08

I'm actually not sure you did spend the afternoon with these people. I mean what on earth would you have in common??

ManicUnicorn · 30/09/2018 22:15

I see nothing ageist in the OP's post.

CloudPop · 30/09/2018 22:18

Until of course they want to come home to access the NHS

Bestseller · 30/09/2018 22:21

They're in laws (aren't they always? ) and I am middle aged too

I only mentioned their age because they are close to retirement, which was relevant, I thought

I actually saw a programme about elderly Brits who'd moved to Spain after retirment when still in good health, but were now obviously very infirm and had things like dementia and mobility issues and were struggling to get the help they needed because they were not Spanish citizens.
