How the hell do you write DC's name in?! Not enough of a label to write on, supergluing labels inside doesn't work, don't think I can stitch a label onto the leather without ruining it, could try nail varnish? Does anyone have any suggestions that work?

(Why? Just Why?!)

Tipp Ex pen with initials? Or paint a patch you could write on?

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 30/09/2018 17:06

You can buy shoe name label stickers

OddBoots · 30/09/2018 17:07

There are work arounds as suggested but the fact they do it in the first place is really, really annoying.

White 'chalk' marker or metallic marker, just below the ankle (wears off more slowly than on the sole).

But, yes, annoying when things designed for children's school use are not designed for labelling.

See if metallic fabric or permanent pens would work. Write largish initials, going over it a couple of times (letting it dry in between). If that doesn't work, get some modelling paint from one of the gaming stores (the ones that sell little figurines you paint)

I write their name on the soles with a sharpie.

Watto1 · 30/09/2018 17:52

Blob of Tippex. Then write the name/initials on the tippex in biro.

Thanks all!

I was having this exact rant in my head a few weeks agoGrin.

You'd think there would be some common sense involved when thousands of children all have to wear black pumps wouldn't you? At DC4's school they change into them on arrival, change out at playtime etc, just to make the chances of mixing them up easier. They bring them home at each half term and I've lost count of the times he's had someone else's.

Now why have I never thought to write on the soles Shock.

Yanbu. I often grumble about this.

muddlingalong42 · 30/09/2018 20:49

Stikins. Absolutely brilliant. They are labels that stick to literally anything - any label, lunch box, water bottle, shoes, even stayed on the sole of my daughters wellies all year. I'm yet to find a child's item that needs naming that they don't stick onto! They even stick on soft toys!! God knows what they are made of Grin

Silver sharpie works great.
