Never asks for anything in particular when I do the weekly shop, is never really bothered, even when asked, but then proceeds to eat anything anyone else has asked me to buy them! it drives me crazy!

Yes!!!! EVERY TIME !!!!

HearMeSnore · 29/09/2018 22:08

Yes. Mine even goes as far as asking me NOT to buy crisps because he wants to try to eat more healthily...then he eats all the crisps that I buy for DD's packed lunches.

mollyblack · 29/09/2018 22:12

Yes. He also says he definitely has no special requests for my supermarket order then looks forlornly in to the fridge ans cupboards disappointed there is nothing he wants there. This is the man who directly passes two supermarkets on the way to and from work.

Lol lol this is soooo spooky, I’ve literally had x2 lighthearted arguments with dp over this past 2 days.
Says wants nothing when walking round shops or if asked, then I sit down with mine on sofa and proceeds to ask me what I have and eat most of mine Angry glad it’s not just me

Skittlesandbeer · 29/09/2018 22:53

Food planning & buying is soooo underrated, as a skill and as a necessary household task.

Not wanting to participate in it is lazy and twatish. It’s also insulting to the person who does step up and do it week after week.

I’ve moved the ‘treats’ kept for guests to a laundry cupboard, so DH doesn’t hoover them all up in the night. I’m considering buying just porridge for every meal until the message about food planning sinks in.

Grrrr

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 29/09/2018 22:57

@Wornout8 my dh now just has to buy his snacks and extras himself. If I catch him eating anything other than planned meals he gets a lighthearted telling off - it's starting to sink in and he's now voluntarily helping with food planing! 🤭

I ask my husband if he needs anything and he usually says no. Then a day or two later will go to the village shop for a jar of coffee as he's run out, meaning we're spending more than if he'd just asked me to get it with the weekly shop from the supermarket. I don't drink coffee so rely on him to tell me when he is getting low, which he never does and then runs out.

FusionChefGeoff · 29/09/2018 23:07

YES Clevs!! It's squash in our house.

MamaRaisingBoys · 29/09/2018 23:17

Mine never wants anything apparently, then complains there’s nothing ‘nice’ to eat

housewifeoflittleitaly · 29/09/2018 23:19

Nope mine is a fat asshole who has his own shopping and his own cupboards.

BackforGood · 29/09/2018 23:21

Well, tbf, I'd interpret that as "not being fussy" and "I'll eat whatever you have in".
Not wanting a particular thing doesn't equate to 'not wanting any food / snacks / treats / whatever it is you are complaining about him eating' Confused

resipsa · 29/09/2018 23:23

YES. Drives me crazy. Never replaces if he shops himself; just gets stuff he fancies that day instead.

Lucked · 29/09/2018 23:29

I kind of agree with BackforGood if you DP eats crisps and biscuits and you are sound the food shop then buy them.

DP does the shopping and I might tell him if we have run out of something but he will keep the biscuit barrel stocked even though he doesn’t have a sweet tooth.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 30/09/2018 06:29

Nope. My husband Does the weekly shop with me on a Sunday so he gets what he wants.

Meet0nTheIedge · 30/09/2018 07:23

I don't ask mine, he's not at home when I do the shopping. If anyone wants anything in particular or finishes something off during the week they need to put it on the shopping list on the fridge or go to the shop themselves. I do try and buy everyone's preferred yogurts, biscuits etc though.
