What's the deal on garden incinerator bins?

We have loads of leave in our garden. Sweeping and stuffing them into bin bags is becoming more and more like pissing against the wind.

So I thought of buying an incinerator bin from Aldi. What's the deal on them? Bonfires might not go down well with the neighbours. Would an incinerator be the same? Does anyone own one of these? Is the amount of smoke less somehow?

Thanks!

We own several, but we live in the middle of nowhere so no neighbours to disturb! It’s safer less burning bits flying around, quicker and a little bit less smoke (but still pretty smokey)

The fire is contained and easier to manage - it burns at a higher temperature so burns more efficiently with less smoke. The ash can be put on the compost heap or on the borders. Apparently slugs and snails don't like is as it is caustic to them.

Mow up your leaves, pop into a large compost bin or leaf mould bin and in a year you will have a lovely mulch for the garden.

such a waste to burn or get rid of them.

The ash still contains nutrients - it's not a waste, it's just a different way of dealing with them. The ash can help a compost heap.

Wouldn't be without ours. Also great for burning confidential papers as it's more "final" than shredding.

Offer the leaves to someone with an allotment or a keen gardener. Someone on Freecycle would probably be happy to come and sweep them up.

check with your council first as you can't use them in some areas.

Leaf hoover. Dead cheap on eBay.

We have a leaf blower, not hoover. It's easy enough gathering the leaves into a pile. It's the stuffing them into bin bags that's the PTA.

Good point about checking with council. Ours is an end terrace house.

These things or similar make picking them up much, much easier. Then we put them in a large fabric compost maker like this except ours was a lot cheaper from a garden centre, and next year we have a tub full of leaf mould.

I just mow them up into the grass catcher and tip them into big garden bags.

I also do the neighbours' lawns to collect as many as possible.
