Just after for some views on how my DM treats her dog. I’ve very much considered reporting her myself as I’m worried about the poor thing. She got it from a puppy and works full time so it barely got any attention. Was just left in a crate all day every day. Never been trained and never walked. It’s a very large active dog and it’s usually just locked in the kitchen barking constantly. DM just screams at it and doesn’t know how to handle a dog whatsoever. It’s now 2 years old and still uses puppy pads. For so long in the same place that the piss has eroded the nice dark oak vinyl to pure white. She started locking it in the kitchen when she goes to work. I don’t think this is safe. What if there was a fire and it couldn’t get out or the fire service weren’t aware there was a dog inside? I just think it’s really cruel and I wish it would have a family that loves itSad

It's cruel. I don't know why people get dogs then don't bother training or walking them. Not sure if RSPCA would do much as it's fed, watered and has sheltered. I think you need to talk her about how she is managing. Could you persuade her to give the dog up voluntarily?

Thank you for your response! I know it angers me so much, I see it too often with pets. It would be like choosing to have a baby and just neglecting it but it’s alright when it’s dogs the poor thingsSad She’s a really defensive person so she’ll just say ‘oh no it’s fine’ and try and brush it off if I tell her the dog will be better somewhere else. The only way is if the neighbours complain about the noise or if she eventually gets fed up and gives it up. Ironically she lives 6 houses away from the RSPCA so she won’t have to go far

This is outright neglect and should be reported, OP. Dogs need human company, excercise, stimulation. It is barking because it is distressed. Also if it is having to empty its bladder and bowels in the kitchen it is presumably paddling around in it and lyng in it. Why does she have the dog?
