Would this be rude/cheeky?

My daughter is desperate to learn violin, for the second year now she hasn’t been given a place within the school and her interest in learning hasn’t waned.

We live in a flat and we regularly her the teenage girl above us practicing (she’s very good!). Would it be weird if I put a note through their letter box asking if she would like to earn a bit of extra money teaching my daughter?
She gets a bit of money each week, we would save a bit not having to pay through the nose for a professional teacher and my daughter can be taught in her own home.

I play guitar and when I was at uni I got a note thru from a lad in block of flats basically saying the same thing, I was chuffed as he’d heard me play and thought I was good so I helped him out with a few cheap lessons (and he’d make my tea!)
Go for it, the teenage girl will probably be chuffed it’ll be a boost to her confidence and a compliment to her so no need to worry, good luck!!

I pay £20 for a half hour for my 7 year old. So even if they say no; It's not astronomical if you can find a music student at a nearby uni. But definitely ask her!

Definitely not- she'd probably be flattered. DD began violin with a girl who played in a school orchestra. I paid €10 an hour (not in UK) Now dd is in the school orchestra.

When I was in year 11 I was asked (by school) to teach the beginnings of my instrument to two year 7 girls. I was very good at playing, but, it turned out, total crap at teaching it Grin

My point being, feel free to ask, but don't be surprised if she's not a good teacher.
