Are you a calling or texting person?

So I hate texting and emailing. Absolutely hate it and get stressed when I have texts waiting I need to reply to, like a chore. I always worry the texts will sound weird/rude/too friendly/insincere and re-read them over loads. I leave it up to 2 weeks to text people back. I love calling however - IMO a phone call sorts out everything. I talk to my mum/best friend for ages and don't mind ringing strangers/customer service at all. I wish calling was the done thing...

My partner is the complete opposite. Texts everyone all day, HATES ringing, avoids it like the plague. Won't sort out stuff like broadband if it involves the phone. Talks completely monotone and gives one-word answers, can't wait to hang up.

So which are you?

Depends on the person and the circumstance, but usually a texter or an emailer. My friends and I are pretty bad at responding to texts, so anything I need to ask them I usually phone, but my parents are pretty good at responding to texts so I usually text them unless I need to know then and there.

I'm a Caller. I would rather spend 10 minutes in discussion than an hour texting.

I love calling however - IMO a phone call sorts out everything. I talk to my mum/best friend for ages

And this is why I prefer texting - all of my caller friends want to talk for ages, which is intrusive and not something I want to do when I have been talking to people all day at work

Texter.. I hate talking on the phone 😬

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 28/09/2018 15:24

Text or whatsapp

I rarely make or take calls

Madein1995 · 28/09/2018 15:34

I much prefer texting. It's easier, simpler, you've not got to think of things to say. You can hide feelings of annoyance or rate easily 😀 you can take time before answering rather than rushing to commit to something. It's less intrusive, you can reply when you fancy. I hate hate hate calling my friends and family etc. Though if you want something sorted eg by a company, calling up is always your best bet

Carmen99 · 28/09/2018 15:43

Text unless close family or very close friends. All phone calls are planned- I hate it when people I don't know that well call unannounced. Only mum calls unannounced and gets a reply.

lalaloopyhead · 28/09/2018 15:48

Mostly text, I think. I have on occasion been typing a text and thought fgs it would just be easier to pick the phone up, and I do.

It entirely depends on what it is about.

DoubleNegativePanda · 28/09/2018 15:51

I speak with easily 200 people per day on the phone. The only people I voluntarily speak with on the phone are my parents, my sisters and my daughter. Most of the time I just look at the ringing phone and think "absolutely not".

wejammin · 28/09/2018 15:54

Text anyone except my parents, sister, gran or DH. I hate talking on the phone to friends, no idea why cos I love a good chat in real life.

MadisonMontgomery · 28/09/2018 15:57

I hate hate hate people ringing me - I spend all day at work on the phone, it’s the last thing I want to do when I get home, especially as you can’t do anything else. I have actually lost touch with a friend because she refuses to text and calls instead!

goingonabearhunt1 · 28/09/2018 16:00

I only speak to family on the phone. Otherwise text, fb message or WhatsApp.

TokyoSushi · 28/09/2018 16:02

Definitely text!

Harrykanesrightsock · 28/09/2018 16:07

Texting. I find making arrangements by phoning stressful and never remember what time was eventually agreed. By text I can refer back and it’s there.

LanguidLobster · 28/09/2018 16:10

Text.

There's only one friend of mine who I prefer phone and we have an unspoken agreement that I'll call at 9.45pm if ever I need her. About once a week.

My best friend hates the phone with a passion so I torture him once a year with a phone call and giggle a bit internally as he struggles to cope (we use text to arrange meeting up)

HildaZelda · 28/09/2018 16:10

I'm a whatsapper. Mostly because I'm charged for calls, but also because I generally can't be bothered talking to people on the phone. It's usually just DH.
