I have a cat stalker!

Seriously!

Got home at 8 with DD, parked up and noticed a ginger cat lingering away the neighbours cars. We walk around to the front door and the cat has followed. It's now sat outside the front door, staring at the house.

What does it want?

Is this how you get a cat?

It has no collar on but it looks fed and looked after.

It wants to come in and settle down for the evening. Are the houses all quite similar and it's just got a bit lost.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 27/09/2018 20:46

Houses are mostly different. It's not a cat I recognise either. There's about 5 houses around our house and I dont think it belongs there.

Is it still there, welcome to the cat owners clubGrin

Yeah. Still there. It's not the first time a ginger cat has shown up. Happened at my parents yeareally ago. We adopted that cat.

It’s chosen you! You’re privileged!

ArtemisWeatherwax · 27/09/2018 21:20

Have you got your central heating on? Perhaps it's a protest.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 27/09/2018 21:22

Central Heating. Never!

That's certainly how I got a cat . . . . .

About 4 years ago this white/tabby cat kept hanging around the hose and garden. Of course I foolishly started feeding her and she got quite cosy.

Took her to the vet and she wasn't chipped or neutered, and probably not vaccinated either. DH HATED cats and said no way was she staying.

Said cat is currently sitting on DH's lap on the couch next to me and will follow us up to bed and cuddle up to HIM shortly. I've been sidelined!

Congratulations OP, you're now a bonafide cat owner Grin

HildaZelda · 27/09/2018 22:02

Hanging around the HOUSE, not the HOSE! I'm pretty sure most cats aren't too keen on hanging around a HOSE! Grin

StartingGrid · 27/09/2018 22:05

Congratulations on your new arrival Halo

goforkyourself · 27/09/2018 22:08

Ginger cats are buggers, they won't take no for an answer! Shock

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/09/2018 09:38

Well, she went out last night and I've not seen her since.

Does that mean we failed some sort of hospitality test?

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/09/2018 19:12

She has since returned, Begging for food.

Someone else is feeding her too. Little bloody scavenger.

Shes not putting all her eggs in your basket yet, she will want to hedge her bets and have as many safe places (and meals!) as possible bless her. Its going to be bloody cold overnight, she'll need as much food as she can get

HoraceWimpIsThisYourLife · 28/09/2018 20:32

Are you sure she’s a she? Most ginger cats are boys.

I would just sit back and enjoy the cat company Smile

SkintAsASkintThing · 28/09/2018 20:38

Don't bloody feed it.......if it looks well looked after it will have an owner wondering where the hell it is. Really pisses me off when people do this. It's a cat, they sit where they want to sit.

PrueDent · 28/09/2018 21:32

I read about a cat watching a house once.

Possibly a huge man will visit on a flying motorbike and leave a baby on your doorstep...

tracymars · 28/09/2018 21:44

I had a stalker cat, a bengal, in my last flat just before I left. Took him to the vet. He was chipped and the owner lived not far from me. I left him there to be collected, thinking I wouldn't see him again as he seemed pissed off at being taken to the vet. A couple of hours later he was back in my garden with a collar on with the owners phone number. I texted her to sayhe was back, I was quite happy to hang out with him, but I wouldn't feed him. The last couple of months of living there he would sleep on my bed with me, leaving early morning presumably to go home to get fed. If I didn't let him in he would howl at my windows until I did let him in.

It was so nice to have the cuddlyness of a cat without the responsibility.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/09/2018 21:59

It has taken to miaowing at the back door. Not feeding it but won't go away. Doesnt help that DD is the cat whisperer.

I don't want a cat.

That made me properly laugh. Grin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/09/2018 22:09

I'd rather have the baby than the cat.

OP posts:
HildaZelda · 28/09/2018 22:49

What @Horace said there is correct, majority of gingers are male.
Remember Streetcat Bob? Smile

NancyDonahue · 28/09/2018 23:35

It probably has an owner. Check local FB page to see if someone is missing their cat. You could post a pic to see if anyone recognises it. Or you could paper collar with your number asking the owner to contact you.

Our boy gets his collars off and goes around all the neighbours begging. They know not to feed him, even though he's highly convincing at acting malnourished and unloved!
