Baby Groups or Baby sensory

Hi Guys, my little one is nearly 8 months old and is starting to play with toys etc. I really want him to get into a group so he can socialise and learn etc. However, im not sure whether play group or sensory would be the better the option.

Go to both, see which mums you like and which leader sings better songs. he'll probably be fine either way Smile

Different babies like different things, going to a few taster sessions of different groups will help you find the right one for him :) enjoy!

I would suggest baby sensory or other baby classes (baby singing/music classes, swimming e.t.c).

I have found play groups are best suited for toddlers or babies that are walking around Smile

In our area trying different things can be expensive because you have to cough up for ten sessions in advance. Playgroups do not ask for this but some obviously have limited places so need to know where they are.

Thank you guys!

Try them and see. A lot depends on the group dynamic and the teacher. I loved most of the baby classes I did but loathed baby sensory. I know others in different areas that loved baby sensory as the group worked or the teacher was better. Most places will do a free trial for classes.

I’d recommend Tiny Talk at that age.

I honestly don't think my baby benefitted from the Baby Sensory/Swimming/Yoga/Massage classes and certainly doesn't remember them.

I however loved them. I met some lovely families, some of whom I'm great friends with 7 years later. They helped to give structure to my day and gave me something to look forward to.

Book a few taster sessions and see what you enjoy.

Honestly, do whatever you fancy and he enjoys most. Don't feel like you need to do expensive classes unless you want to, though. I wish someone had told me that with DC1 (DC3 just gets dragged around to parties with his sisters for his baby sensory experience Grin). Saying that, there's nothing wrong with going to them, either! Have fun whatever you decide ☺

I loved baby sensory, and they usually do a free trial session.

I much preferred causal chatty baby groups rather than structured classes because I found that I made friends and connected much more when it was free form (aka no annoying leader forcing everyone to sing nursery rhymes).

CAAKE · 02/10/2018 10:25

And yes, I know that my last post was about me rather than the baby, but babies don't really care at that young age, where's I craved connection.
