Regulating my period

ZAG88 · 27/09/2018 19:23

Hi Smile I stopped my contraception pill about three months ago & I've still not had a period. I was wondering if anyone could recommend something that might help. I've read flaxseed oil capsule could possibly help but not for certain.
We really want to try for a baby as in our 30s but we can't till I get my first period.
Any advice would be greatly helpful.
Thank you in advance

Actually, there's no reason not to try now - women can be fertile in the time after stopping the pill before having a period.

There may be a reason such as pcos so if your period hasn't shown up within another 2 or 3 months go to your GP for blood tests.

I managed to regulate mine recently by making a few lifestyle tweaks. I’m not sure if it was one thing in particular or everything combined.

Generally I just tried to eat as healthily as possible, cut down on alcohol, increased how much exercise I do and also took some well woman pre-pregnancy vitamins.

Though I have a feeling the main thing that worked was that I tried to stick to as much of a routine as possible. Going to bed and waking up around the same time everyday, even at the weekends, and exercising around the same time every week - so running on Wednesday evenings, yoga on Sunday mornings, swimming before work on Tuesdays for example. My body seemed to react well to sticking to a routine.

I now have 28-29 day cycle whereas before they were anywhere from 30-40 days.

Thank you Dbrook.

I do eat healthy and rarely drink since stopping the pill unfortunately due to work I cannot commit to a regular sleep or exercise routine as I'm a full time carer for a severely disabled person 9am Monday through to 5pm Friday & I can't leave her to go exercise & can only sleep when she sleeps which is sometimes lucky if it's 4/5 hours a night.

I'm very grateful for your advice though so thank you 🙂

Parsley tea will make your period come if it is overdue.

Do not use if there is any chance you may be pregnant.

I drink it occasionally if I’m late and feeling premenstrual, it is pretty effective.

Thank you for your advice we are having unprotected sex so in a way we are still trying. We get married in November and if I do not come on by then I will definitely seek advice from the doctor.
Thank you for your advice 🙂 much appreciated

Try low carbing for a few days, usually gets things going!

any evidence for all this? 'bring on a period ' = abortion if pregnant. Do herbs really do that?

I'm not pregnant I've had a pregnancy test. I've not had a period since stopping contraceptive pill and was asking if there were any natural ways to help regulate my cycle. Thats all I'm asking for advice to start my cycles to get ready

Special subject, google it. There’s various sources online that suggest it to bring on your period. I’ve used it myself many times as I have pcos and have a very long Luteal phase (is that the after ovulation bit?) and would have weeks and weeks of pmt waiting for my period to come. I did specifically say that you shouldn’t use it if you suspect you may be pregnant.

Where did you buy the tea? I know I'm hundred percent not pregnant. I've had a blood test!!!

yes, there are plenty of sources online but any old wife can write a blog. the real medical sites say nothing. Evidence is very thin (web site speak for ' total bollocks but we dont want to upset our snake oil selling sponsor)

some evidence that some.herbs may be occasional abortifacients - but if they were reliable no one would need to struggle for an abortion.

natural = different chemicals

Zag just buy fresh parsley from the supermarket. I use my cafetière, put a bunch of parsley in and hot water, leave it to steep and then drink it. A few cups over a day. It is rank, like drinking grass, it’s less hideous if you wait til it’s cool and just gulp it down without tasting it!

ZAG88 · 27/09/2018 21:29

Good thinking. I wouldn't have thought of that.
Again thank you

Special my evidence is that someone told me about it years ago (I can’t remember who, it was literally years ago!) and I tried it and it worked and it worked many times since. Parsley is a known emmenagogue and it will only work if you’re actually due on.

specialsubject · 28/09/2018 15:30

not evidence, one case. Same as those who say curry brings on labour. no proof that it would not have happened anyway.

some studies indicate that.parsley may cause period/abortion but no guarantees. As I said, rather a shame.
