Can anyone give me a non biased timeline of the Tommy Robinson events?

I know it’s all online to read, but any google search throws up a hundred articles about different court cases and different retrials and I just want to know a non biased time line of that actually happened. There are so many “free Tommy” articles that I can’t see the wood for the trees.

I know who he is vaguely, I know he splits opinion, and I understand that he is hailed as some kind of spokesperson for the right, but with regard to this particular incident, what exactly happened?

I don’t want a bun fight or anything FWIW I don’t like him, I just a straight timeline of events really. EVen the BBC explanation doesn’t include his being on parole for previous convictions which I assume is relevant?

Sorry, not sure of the timeline, too confusing. But just out of interest, why don't you like him?

reallyanotherone · 27/09/2018 12:33

Someone will likely explain it better, but the recent thing was relatively simple.

Our tommeh livestreamed himself on facebook from a sensitive trial, compromising the trial. He was found guilty of contempt of court and recieved a suspended sentence, and told if he did it again he’d be imprisoned.

Ff to Leeds, where he livestreamed himself outside a sensitive trial, which had a court ordered media blackout. He broadcast defendants entering court, compromising the trial.

He was arrested, pled guilty, and imprisoned for his original 13m, plus extra for the new crime.

But no, completely innocent. Despite pleading guilty...

He’s an arse.

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 12:40

I don’t like him because I am married to a Muslim man and from all I have seen and heard, the jist of it TR doesn’t like “foreigners” and I don’t agree.

Even if not for that I have seen speeches he has made and found him quite inarticulate and unable to grab the point. I just want to understand what he did and why people want him freed? Even if he is vile, maybe it is a miscarriage of justice? It’s hard to understand without all the facts laid out.

Ah so the suspended sentence was for the same thing reallyanotherone. I didn’t grasp that bit!

Excellent explanation from the Secret Barrister.

thesecretbarrister.com/2018/08/01/the-tommy-robinson-judgment-what-does-it-all-mean/

PiperPublickOccurrences · 27/09/2018 12:44

He filmed in court and was told not to. He then did it again and they arrested him.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 27/09/2018 12:46

What I want to know is why he's adopted a pseudonym? His name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. Is that too hard to spell for his knuckle-dragging followers?

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 12:47

Ok so now I understand

“By broadcasting in the way that he did, Yaxley-Lennon was in breach of the reporting restriction, an act which amounts to contempt of court.”

So there was a reporting restriction on the actual trial and not necessarily on the accused prior to the trial and that is the issue.

I was confused over this because someone I know shared a post indicating that other reporters had pictured and named the accused prior to the trial without repercussion and thus TR was also innocent.

He claims to stand up for the victims of paedophile gangs, but I've never seen any evidence of him actually doing anything to support the women and girls affected. His supporters donate thousands to him, yet not a penny has gone to victim support charities.

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 12:48

Thanks Bombardier25966, that was really helpful!

OatsBeansBarley · 27/09/2018 12:50

Well it should be added that the second conviction was quashed. And this is now a retrial.

reallyanotherone · 27/09/2018 12:52

“He claims to stand up for the victims of paedophile gangs, but I've never seen any evidence of him actually doing anything to support the women and girls affected. His supporters donate thousands to him, yet not a penny has gone to victim support charities”

He also only “stands up” for white victims of muslim paedophiles/rapists etc Hmm

Part of the reason he was arrested is his determination to broadcast “muslim rapists” during trial- they haven’t been found guilty, and being muslim does not make you a rapist.

Other news outlets published only names of those on trial. They didn’t comment or elaborate, according to the restrictions.

Thanks for this also, I hadn’t been following any of it so was unaware of what had and hadn’t been reported and trying to find the articles now means sifting through the lot!

I saw that he went on holiday straight after being released last time. He also has a lot of solicitors costs. Surely he doesn't go on holiday with donations, does he? Anyone know what line of work he's in? (if any)

BlancheM · 27/09/2018 12:58

His latest publicity stunt/claims to support victims of crime jeopardised the very court cases he was yapping on about to his fans, meaning the alleged victims would have been unable to have the closure of a verdict and would have gone through the whole traumatic process for nothing. All so that arrogant idiot could feed his own ego. (Oh and he's a fascist, racist, xenophobic cunt.)

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 13:03

I’m sorry, more questions. I don’t understand how it was quashed and he appealed? And there is now a retrial. It seemed cut and dried?

OP posts:
OatsBeansBarley · 27/09/2018 13:05

Just reading bits again.

As far as I can gather first judge in Kent made particular reference to TR referring to accused men as already guilty of the crimes , so "rapists". This stuck in Tommy's head.

TR seems to have thought he could do a livestream from near to Yorkshire court but was ok if he referred to these second group as "accused". Plus he had asked (police?) If he was ok to film away from court steps and supposedly was told he was ok to do so.

(He was perhaps naive or provocative or both?!)

Then he was arrested and tried and found guilty all in a few hours. He didn't have access to his normal solicitor. This is the trial that was found on appeal to be not quite right. Hence the new trial.

OatsBeansBarley · 27/09/2018 13:07

The appeal judge's ruling will be available online and would be your best bet.

reallyanotherone · 27/09/2018 13:07

The best bit was when he asked his supporters not to pulish details of his ongoing case, prison sentence etc, as it may compromise his appeal...

He’s not very bright, is he?

tillytop · 27/09/2018 13:09

TR live at the Old Bailey now on YouTube. Lot of supporters / protesters there.

reallyanotherone · 27/09/2018 13:09

Plus he had asked (police?) If he was ok to film away from court steps and supposedly was told he was ok to do so

Presumably the actual recording of video was not a crime.

The live broadcasting, and the content, plus him being on a suspended sentence for the same thing, is what got him arrested.

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 13:10

According to companies house, as S y-l he has been a plumber and. At one stage was involved with a property company.

Iicr his partner had a tanning salon, yes the irony of owning a company to make white people brown isn't lost on me!

URaflutteringcunt · 27/09/2018 13:20

Ok I understand now, the procedure in which he was arrested was flawed and that was the basis for appeal, rather than an appeal of the charge.

"Tommy Robinson Update with Ezra Levant" live on YouTube. A bit of an explanation from this guy (American)
