Turn your fridge off?

masma · 27/09/2018 07:26

What about everything in the fridge?

In my experience you should be ok. No heating (hopefully hot water gas) no washing machine and only one quick hot meal. Been there done that and bought the t shirt unfortunately.

MrsPear · 27/09/2018 07:27

Th fridge on its own really uses no electric - it is stuff you heat.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 27/09/2018 07:28

Don't do any washing/tumble drying or dishwashing.

If it runs out after a certain time (6.30pm maybe?) then you have till 9.30am-ish the following day to top up. They don't cut you off overnight, or over weekends, but you will have to pay the debt.

masma · 27/09/2018 07:29

Ah ok so no oven, microwave etc?going to have tea at my mums tonight that solves that!Grin

Can you call your supplier and explain your situation to them? I had to do it once and they put £5 extra credit on that would then be taken back over the next couple of weeks. They made it very clear you can only do this once in a 12 month period.
If you have the Friendly Credit tariff it will not run out between 2100hrs and 0900hrs the next day.

Dinnaehinksae · 27/09/2018 07:31

I'm in a three bed house and don't tend to use that much on a normal day so I think especially with being careful it should more than last.

masma · 27/09/2018 07:32

I have a tiny two bedroom flat and only me and DD.

Is your shower electric, if so I'd do that at your mum's. Make sure everything that doesn't need to be switched on is switched off at the plug (tv etc) whike youre not there and I think you'll just about make it.

masma · 27/09/2018 07:34

I just thought what about shower because that's electric? So I will shower at my mums today!im determined to get us to tomorrow with no help so I will make it!

OrangeOrBlackcurrant · 27/09/2018 07:34

I live in a 4 bed and that would last me till tomorrow. I honestly think you will be fine but I wouldn't risk any hoovering or ironing today Wink

masma · 27/09/2018 07:36

This is turning out to be a pretty good day..the huge ironing pile is getting left to tomorrow 😂🎉

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 27/09/2018 07:43

Oh dear, you won't be able to do housework. What a shame. There's a bright side to this. Grin

Glad you've got your mums to go to. You should be fine.

tictac86 · 27/09/2018 07:49

Dont boil the kettle it uses lots of electric. No ironing or hoovering, il pay you to let me join in with this

masma · 27/09/2018 07:51

So I'm definitely going to have to run to my mums house because I cannot life without a cup of tea!!no paying but you can join in,I'm having quite a fun morning already 😂

nellly · 27/09/2018 07:51

I've been there in this situation! It should be totally fine if you don't do washing machine and cooker, they're the big ones. Try and switch as much off as you can, maybe wrap up warm and take DD to the park then linger at your mums as long as possible tonight Grin

OrangeOrBlackcurrant · 27/09/2018 08:10

When I boil my kettle it costs 43p an hour but obviously only takes a minute so you should be OK for a cuppa.
I'm not willing to see how much the hoover or iron costs though Grin

masma · 27/09/2018 08:16

We are going to wrap up warm and spend most of the day outside!haha then do baths at my mums tonight 🎉 it's very exciting here today 😂
