If you're registered with tps have you noticed an increase recently in unwanted calls?

I registered with them a few years ago. Within a few weeks noticed a great improvement in reduction of unwanted calls.

Recently (I think last 6/8 weeks) have noticed an increase in unwanted calls despite still being registered (I checked with them).

What the hell is going on?

And the LIES they are telling are utterly shameless - even telling me I must be wrong when I tell them

No I haven't been in a recent traffic accident
I haven't applied for a mortgage/Iva/credit card
I haven't made a claim on my car insurance ( I don't even HAVE a car! Haven't for several years!)

Wtf?!

So I wondered if other mners having similar issues.

I've only been here just over a year but I brought the number with me when I moved from last place. Was there nearly 10 years and after registering with tps very rarely got nuisance calls.

a call blocker box saved the day, it stops loads and the phone does not even ring. unavailable from bangalore can go swivel.

mobile is easy, just turn it off!

Havent read all of the replies.... But it used to be that when you registered with the TPS it was only for a maximum of 3 years, then you are supposed to re register. I do not know if this still applies.
I used to sell consumer data many years ago.

I KNEW some genius would say 'just turn it off' Grin

I have elderly relatives who it's entirely possible I can get urgent calls about at any time so need to keep it on for them. Also a daughter that works shifts that sometimes needs to get in touch and today (as I've already said) I was actually waiting on an important call and had no way of knowing what number it would come from or if the number would be withheld so couldn't risk not answering!

I've checked with tps - not just onsite emailed them too and had a personal reply (eventually).

"I used to sell consumer data many years ago." And how are you atoning for your sins? Wink

I've had a spate of life insurance calls recently. Claim to be from my current provider (had name and address info) and that I can lower my premiums, something do with paying higher rate tax (which I don't) I asked to email the information so I could read the T&Cs and they hung up on me. As if I'm going to change my life insurance policy over the phone when they are sketchy on the details and I can't really understand what they're saying.

I've worked in sales and marketing for years, so I'm quite comfortable telling them I'm not interested. They're just doing a pretty lowly paid job after all. I feel for people who genuinely feel besieged by them though. My very mild mannered FIL would get enraged by them.

We get several fraudulent TPS calls daily on the landline. The ones where they end up asking if we pay our telephone bill quarterly by DD. I've never gotten past that point because they hang up when (Every time*) I start to tell them off & call them fraudsters. Still they call back soon afterwards!!

*when I answer, which is only once a week or so; DH refuses to answer any call on the landline that isn't ultra persistent.

dont the chunky smartphones have a block function? my £10 talk and text job does.

landlines dont and mine is also an emergency contact, wouldnt trust a mobile let alone a crappy smartphone. hence the blocker box.
