Good. Should be a longer sentence. Judge says he’s a dangerous sexual predator.

He is. And it’s a scathing judgement but 3 years is bullshit.

NicoAndTheNiners · 25/09/2018 21:02

3 years is bullshit but at his age hopefully he won’t see the light of day again.

Good! I had a really funny feeling he might get away with it because you never know and at the original trial the jury were divided. However justice has been done. Has he actually gone to jail now or is he still out, confined to house, until a place is found for him? I suppose that's a silly question really, he must be in gaol.

NicoAndTheNiners · 25/09/2018 23:00

He’s in jail. Led off in handcuffs, was refused bail while appealing which his lawyer argued for.

I genuinely cheered.

Is his sentence not based off one crime though? I know that 3-10 years is still not enough of a sentence for such a horrific crime. But we can all know he's a prolific offender but he's not been found guilty of that?

NothingOnTellyAgain · 25/09/2018 23:22

Good

Snart · 25/09/2018 23:46

Good. Just shame it’s not longer.

HildaZelda · 25/09/2018 23:47

Delighted, but nowhere near long enough. He's a total POS Angry

Sadly I think the American statute of limitations has come into play for many of these women so he can’t be charged with older offences. However they are planning to take up civil cases for defamation against him because he said they were all lying when they accused him. So hopefully they get all his money!

Was it 60 women who've all come forward to say the same about him? Even tho firstly one came to trial, no trial result, then came again and some of the others could also give evidence?

And court papers from 2005 state that he admitted by Qualuudes to sedate women....

Justice is so lax and it makes me so cross. It's almost designed to preclude the truth from coming out and people being held to account.

What DOES please me is, as long as this case remain s in the public eye, and others like it, we can focus on the people who commit these offences, rather than those who were there but didn't do it. I get that people should help us, but as a survivor of 15 years of child abuse myself, it mystifies me as to why people might focus on say my schoolteachers or the neighbors rather than the person who factually committed those acts against me....those things are not spoken about nearly eniugh imo.

Good

"Sadly I think the American statute of limitations has come into play for many of these women so he can’t be charged with older offences."

Countries with this for sex offences and esp with children need to revisit as it basically means that they can abuse with impunity as so many women take years to come forward & of course with kids they often have to grow up, process what happened, understand, come to terms, decide to report and NOPE sorry love too late.

I didn't realise UK is v unusual in NOT having this.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:00

It really bothers me that eg someone who has committed sex offences against 100s of children is home free because oh well it was a few years ago wasn't it.

i do think some states have changed to take CSA & maybe rape out.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/09/2018 12:01

Or hundreds of women for that matter!

The dynamic with children though is that you are pretty much guaranteed to get off.

Want2bSupermum · 26/09/2018 12:07

For some reason I thought they changed the law here and the statue of limitations doesn't apply to rape. I know it doesn't apply to child abuse because there was an old man convicted locally who did some horrific things to minors.
