Odd anonymous "gifts", wtf?

Slight mystery... been receiving random tat through the post from China, 4 in total in the past month. An iron-on butterfly tapestry craft thing, a spinning butterfly toy, a plastic craft box that has loads of tiny compartments (for beads?) and most recently a doll sized baby's bottle. The postage label has my full name and 'phone number on it. No delivery note in packages.

Anyone have any ideas what could this be? I didn't order this random collection of plastic weirdness!

No DCs red. Unless my cats are managing to tapdance across the laptop keys in a very co-ordinated fashion. Will have a gander at bank statement.

I've read a similar thread somewhere before and a theory on there was that it was something to do with the seller processing sales for near worthless items to somehow fiddle their ratings/sales numbers on whatever site they're selling their tat through.

McFugget · 25/09/2018 20:03

Hmm, you mean like from somebody I've purchased from in the past Accrual?

Yeah. I'm sure I've seen a news story about this (as Accrual says) but I can't find it now. All the keywords are too common. You can just keep the items, charity shop them or sell them yourself if you might get anything for them (more likely at car boot than on ebay )

Thistles24 · 25/09/2018 20:13

This often happens to me if I buy something cheap from China on eBay/Amazon. I get the item I wanted, plus another in the same package, then another couple of odd things in the weeks/months that follow. Never charged for them, just the correct amount for the item I wanted.

ChateauRouge · 25/09/2018 20:15

Yes- it's a scam- the sellers use your address to ship to, the account holder posts a "review" which is v good.

McFugget · 25/09/2018 20:15

I was getting a little carried away and imagining myself on the receiving end of some stalky weirdness. Grin

I think it's called 'brushing'?
