What would you think about an 11 year old girl and her 14year old brother sharing a room?

Just that really. The house has enough space for them to have a bedroom each but the dad wants to have a separate study for himself.

I grew up in council housing and you'd be eligible to be rehoused to give boys and girls beyond a certain age separate sleeping accomodation.

VeryBerrySeptember · 25/09/2018 21:49

Age of 10 I've just read on one current council website.

poorbuthappy · 25/09/2018 21:49

Shocker. Man thinks about himself rather than his children.

Dad's a selfish fucker

Glaciferous · 25/09/2018 21:50

If the dad has his own bedroom, he doesn't need a study as well. He just needs to rearrange his bedroom to provide a reasonable study space.

lightonthewater · 25/09/2018 21:51

Too old to be sharing, Dad is very selfish.

Bestseller · 25/09/2018 21:52

It depends if they live full time with dad and if the study is really a luxury or whether he actually needs it to work in

KnittingSister · 25/09/2018 21:52

So dad has 2 rooms whilst the DC have one room between them?!

MajesticWhine · 25/09/2018 21:53

It's very selfish if there is another room available.
I have a very bad memory of being that age when sharing a room with my brother. That was just on holiday. Yuk.

Canshopwillshop · 25/09/2018 21:55

Not on in these circumstances.

AnotherEmma · 25/09/2018 21:59

Oh look, another selfish twat.

Hope they can separate properly ASAP.

Poor kids though, I expect their contact time with him will be no fun for them Sad

RandomMess · 25/09/2018 22:02

Inappropriate when they are not over crowded Angry

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 25/09/2018 22:04

Why can't he set up a study in his bedroom?

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 25/09/2018 22:06

Their dad's an absolute dick, jeez how selfish can a person be? A 4 bed house and he expects a teenage boy and preteen girl to share? He's got his own bloody bedroom, let that double as a study!

SlimDogMillionaire · 25/09/2018 22:20

I'd think the dad was a selfish cunt

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/09/2018 00:41

So he has got two rooms, DW has one and the kids have a half. I wonder why he's separated...

PickAChew · 26/09/2018 00:44

The dad can grow the fuck up, have some sensitivity and put a desk in the corner of a reception room.

PickAChew · 26/09/2018 00:47

His own fucking bedroom even better than a reception room. Arsewipe.

Blameanamechange · 26/09/2018 00:51

If Social Services found out they would onto them they a tonne of bricks. Totally inappropriate at that age. Not fair on the dcs. They neef their privacy. The mans a dickhead.

beclev24 · 26/09/2018 01:58

He has form for being selfish and controlling and IMO emotionally abusive.

Do you think social services would care about something like this though? I’m assuming they are so overstretched...

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 26/09/2018 02:36

It's a shame that they have to stay living with him. Is that going to change soon? Given what you've said, OP, as the mum if I felt I really couldn't challenge the ex, I would put my DD in with me in my bedroom as an immediate but temporary solution.

SharkSave · 26/09/2018 03:29

Yes the dad sounds like a grade A arsewipe but as it seems that's unlikely to change I'd be wondering wtf the mum was playing at too. I'd either have the daughter in with me or sleep on the sofa so she had my room

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/09/2018 05:48

So the father has 2 bedrooms out of 4. Wow!

Do you mean the father made the children share when they “split”? What does the mother say? (I assume she’s your relation).

What would happen if the whole household moved the office stuff into his bedroom when he was out? It sounds like he would get abusive perhaps even aggressive. So if his wife / kids simply asked if they could move his stuff and he threatened them, then there would be a case to answer with the police. That could be a possible avenue.

Idk if SS would get involved if you contacted them. I think to make a case you’d perhaps have to give more background but I really have no idea.

What else is he like?

JuneOsbourne · 26/09/2018 05:55

I thought this was going to turn out to be about girl guides!

But yes, clearly ridiculous. Dad can put desk in own bedroom, fourth bedroom goes to daughter.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2018 06:05

Depending on the size and shape of the rooms, maybe the dad should get a sofa bed in the study and give the bedroom to one of the children.
