Wondering whether I should send the other to school tomorrow?

Mine got it exactly two weeks apart, just as the spots disappeared from one, they appeared on the other. They were much younger than yours though at two years old (not sure if that makes a difference.)

ISmellLikeCalamineLotion · 24/09/2018 19:08

I can't decide what would be worse, having them both together or it lasting for a month Shock

they were approx 2yrs old and one got it the other never didConfused

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/09/2018 19:11

Not twins, but I had 3 children under 5. Ds1 got it first, then 13 days later the other 2 both got it the same day. I should send the twin to school until they shows signs of illness.

PhilomenaButterfly · 24/09/2018 19:14

The other one's probably already got it.

Juanbablo · 24/09/2018 19:15

My aunt's twins got it Christmas Eve and New year's Eve! That was a sporty festive period for them!

AdoraBell · 24/09/2018 19:15

In my experience with twins the other one already has it, the symptoms will probably start tomorrow. You have my sympathy

Watto1 · 24/09/2018 19:16

My nephew got it. His sister got it 6 years later! They weren't kept apart or anything. You can't keep dc off school just in case they have chicken pox.

Bangkokbaby · 24/09/2018 19:18

It was 12 days between mine. Don't keep the other home. I asked nursery and they said it was fine to send the other if no signs of it. If you keep the one that isn't showing symptoms off then could miss over 3 weeks of school!

FreeButtonBee · 24/09/2018 19:19

About 2 weeks in my house. Had a 5mo too. It was pretty miserable...

dementedpixie · 24/09/2018 19:20

Mine had 14 days between their chicken pox bouts. Depends if they were exposed to the poxy child at the same time as to whether there will be a gap between them

DramaAlpaca · 24/09/2018 19:22

Mine aren't twins but they got it two weeks apart. My friend's twins also got it two weeks apart.

Onlyfools · 24/09/2018 19:23

Both my children were exposed at the same time. One child got it then the other child got it three days later.

viques · 24/09/2018 19:24

More to the point have you had the pox OP? Because I caught it off my DD and it was the worst illness I have ever had.

SinkGirl · 24/09/2018 19:26

No experience but sending solidarity. My twins just turned two and it’s taken two weeks for a very nasty virus to work its way round all four of us. I am not looking forward to chicken pox. If theyre rarely apart, chances are the other one will come down with it quite soon. If one caught it first, I think the incubation period is a couple of weeks. Hang in there Flowers

Loyaultemelie · 24/09/2018 19:26

Exactly 2 weeks in this house. Dd1 was first, 2 weeks later dd2, 2weeks later Dh who hadn't had it as a child, 2 weeks later I got shingles. That was fun.

DaphneFanshaw · 24/09/2018 19:28

2 weeks between mine having it too. Tbh I would send the other one in until they show signs of the illness.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 24/09/2018 19:37

Not twins, but one got it for Christmas, the younger for new year. Miserable Christmas holidays that year, the entire house smelled of calamine cream and sadness.

ileclerc · 24/09/2018 19:43

Mine were exactly 24 hours apart.

ISmellLikeCalamineLotion · 24/09/2018 19:46

I had it as a child, thank goodness. I'll send the non-spotty one in, just hope they don't go on to infect the rest of the class. Is it weird to put it on the class whatsapp? Thinking of a few mums who are pregnant.

It will depend on whether they both had contact with the infected child, or whether one passes it to the other. I think it’s a 14 day incubation period so if twin 2 doesn’t have it within a day or 2, expect it in 14 days, give or take. My ds 2 came out in spots 14 days pretty much to the hour after his big brother!
That was a fun Christmas.....Hmm

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/09/2018 19:51

And it’s probably come from school anyway so I’d send him in provided he’s well enough, until spots appear. Aren’t they contagious for 2 weeks before spots anyway? Our entire reception group (90 kids) had it that year, they were dropping like flies! The only ones in the Christmas play were the ones who’d had it at nursery!

BikeRunSki · 24/09/2018 19:53

13 between my non-twin dc. Then they got bronchitis. Thank goodness I was on mat leave anyway!!

viques · 25/09/2018 10:48

Please do put a warning up for other parents. Chickenpox can be deadly for people with a suppressed immune system, If it is going around your nursery/area they will need to know.

TheThirdOfHerName · 25/09/2018 10:50

DS1 & DS2 (not twins): two weeks apart.

DD & DS3 (twins): two weeks apart.
