Exercise when pregnant

Specifically crossfit.

I have only just tested positive, so I'm about 4.5 wks along (very early days, I know!). I have been doing crossfit for the last year and a half, 3 times a week. It does wonders for my body, but the workouts are super intense.

I had a MMC in March at 11 wks, I did keep the crossfit up during the pregnancy, but left it for about 2 months after the MMC diagnosis to let my body recover.

This is my first pregnancy after the MMC, and I'm feeling a bit nervous about it all. I don't want to give up something that I enjoy and exercise is beneficial during pregnancy, but I wouldn't want to do anything that would risk this pregnancy.

WWYD?

I used to do a lot of HIT training prebaby ( and post lol ) but instead when I found out we were expecting ( 4 previous MC) , I got a PT instead 2-3 a week and still exercised but on a much more pregnancy friendly ( as I got bigger ) scale and swam once a week , enough to feel I'd still had a good work out.
It might be worth just whilst you get through the first few months maybe doing CrossFit once a week and finding alternatives for the other sessions until you feel comfortable enough to up the sessions xx

Normal activity doesn't cause m/c. I know people want a reason & thinking it should be something you understand makes it easy to blame yourself or something you did, but m/c is almost always a genetic fault created before implantation or a problem with how the fetus implanted but you don't get to know for sure which or what. Nothing could have prevented it or made it happen like that.

Good idea to talk thru your worries with a midwife (is what I would do).

I got varying advice during my pregnancy - I cycled (still do) quite a bit; cycling was (then) on the list of activities not advised during pregnancy, but both my midwife and physiotherapist encouraged me to continue as it was exercise I already did.

You might want to discuss how intensively you should exercise with a midwife - again, I've had varying advice, from not getting my pulse too high to being able to have a conversation to being able to speak normally; I certainly cycled hard enough not to be able to speak in full sentences at times. I don't know what current advice is, I'm afraid!

Congratulations Flowers Moderate exercise fine, CrossFit after a miscarriage not fine. I was a fitness instructor for twenty five years seen all versions of this don't be the sad one
