At what age did the trampoline go?

Youngest is now 11 and the trampoline needs a new net. It's not had as much use this year, and to be honest he bounces so high that I sometimes worry he'll impale himself on the net stakes.

A trampoline was firmly on my 'not ever' list, but we were given a 10' one about 10 years ago and the kids have loved it. Getting rid of it just seems another one of those 'growing up' things that sometimes sideswipe you when you really don't expect it.

Dd is 9 and hers needs a new net, and it's about had it anyway. (It hasn't been used this year for its intended purpose. She sits on it sometimes to read.) When I take it down I won't be replacing it with a new one. 😀

When we moved house, DD was 13 I think, DS 15. Friends kept theirs well into their kids' late teens. Not helpful I know. They did carry on being used, but you might need opaque netting for the late teens when they get girl/boyfriends...

My 11 year old would leave home if I got rid of the trampoline. Younger one not so bothered.

About 12 when I found DS trying to slam dunk his basketball into the net from the trampoline and try and land in the pool.

EnglishRose1320 · 23/09/2018 09:11

We don't have one, no space but I had one growing up and can remember friends doing drunken dares on it when we were late teens, who could flip off and land on the concrete! So maybe ditch it now

You don't want to hear this- but my ds is nearly 18. His best friend still has his trampoline and it is used constantly!

Chesterfieldsofa · 23/09/2018 09:49

Haha, you're not helping, I thought everyone would say 9 or something. I'm off to look for replacements nets on amazon, maybe the cost will do it.

Nets are really cheap, it's only if you need to replace the poles it gets pricey!

WickedGoodDoge · 23/09/2018 09:51

DC are 13 and 16.they no longer use the trampoline but the dog loves sprawling on it in the sun so I suspect it’ll be another 10 years or so before we get rid of it. Sigh.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 23/09/2018 09:52

Don’t get rid of it, it’ll get fun again. I spent a lot of time sitting on a friend’s trampoline in my late teens with a couple of ciders in me Grin

Ds and his friends sprawl on the trampoline like a giant floor cushion. They use it to revise on. They like in it and gaze dolefully at the stars. They work off excess energy after school. They lie under it in the shade. They would be heartbroken if it was taken away.

Friends parents have made it very clear it's out of bounds at parties though.
