Huge dog bone in plant pot. We don't have a dog!

So went out in the garden today and there was a huge dog bone half buried in an empty plant pot.

We don't have a dog!

The garden is dog proof and surrounded by other gardens. We have a cat but it was way too big for her to have moved. None of the family have any idea.

I guess it could have been thrown in by a neighbour but why? Our neighbours are lovely. Neither have a dog though one often has a dog visiting. Any other ideas?

squirrels? they bury all sorts of weird stuff.
foxes tend to just leave the bones lying about

Why are you jumping to conclusions that a dog has broken into your garden to bury a bone? The only logical explanation is that a member of your family is disposing of a dismembered body. Ask them! And don't take any old cock and bull story about a fictitious dog.

Good work people.

We wondered about a fox but it would have to climb a serious fence and why bury a bone?

Family deny all knowledge and don't look shifty just puzzled.

I have binned it so no dogwood alas.

Could a bird have dropped it then cat tried to bury it?

a fox can get to anywhere a cat can go.

Foxes
The buggers dig up my lovely fragile potted seedlings and leave me a bit of bone as compensation.

Erm, thanks Hmm

Many years ago I found a cooked chicken carcass buried a pot plant. I’m still mystified.
