Poole or Worthing?

Which one would you choose to move to from London? I've got a sister in Worthing and a good friend who's just moved to Poole. They're both trying to sell their area to me and I'd love to leave London but how to choose! I don't know either area very well..

I'd love to get a wider perspective.

My ma-in-law lived in Worthing. First time I visited her I decided to go by National express coach. I showed my ticket to the driver, who said"this has got to be a mistake? You look much too young to be going to Worthing" Grin

Have I sold it to you,OP?Wink

The general area around Poole is lovely, but the town centre itself isn't that great these days (been visiting for the best part of 40 years, and the town is much more run-down these days compared to what I remember from the early days).

However, there are some amazing villages around and about if you aren't fussed about where you live (friends in Lytchett Matravers, chosen because of the good school catchments if that's a concern for you) but the conglomeration of the Borough of Poole/Bournemouth can feel like one giant mass of housing and confusing roads before you get to the out-lying bits.

Can't speak for Worthing though!

Meant to add, the anomaly of Poole is that it does have a great Primark, brand new H&M and New Look in the Dolphin Centre!

Worthing is one of my favourite places. It's chilled out, and a very short train ride to Brighton. My favourite part is that there are like zero hills so was great for getting around on a bike. Beaches usually empty too, as everyone goes to Brighton. I love Worthing Grin

I adore Poole personally. I've lived here 2 and a half years and just bought a house here. Dorset is so beautiful. Smile

Worthing!
Close to Brighton with nice beaches and nice areas.
I grew up there and would love to move back if we could get similar jobs there.

I love the areas around Poole . Were so lucky we can access the beach, the purbecks (beautiful coastal walking, corfe castle, lovely villages and pubs etc), and gorgeous country parks (moors valley is amazing but also upton country and avon heath) all so quickly from where we live!

There is so much to do in the summer eoth activities and festivals and the gorgeous variety of outdoor places that we dont do it all. I honestly love it and would choose it over worthing!

However the town centee like many has gone downhill - lots of coffee shops and charity shops. But a new nultiscreen cinema is being built and regeneration around the bus station(grotty at night.) Im not keen on the centre but have friends who live near baiter in nice houses that can walk to the quay and the harbour and baiter etc and seems lovely.

There are lots of lovely areas around the edge depending on price bracket. Bournemouth is sprawling surburbia and I couldnt live too far away fromcountryside peraonally so wouldnt live caught up between the 2.

Corfe mullen, broadstone, lytchet, wimborne are all lovely areas. If youre selling a london house you should get decent value for money. We moved from london (but had been renting) and found lots of others who have done similar! Even down to kids in the same hospital... I do feel lucky to live here.

As per the name though it is a grammar school area and at secondary ita very polorised in yerms of schools - grammar/religious/huge/ bootcamp school/per forming arts or lytchet if youre in catchment.
Or middle/senior in wimborne area.
