The ones which mean there is no need for sanitary stuff?
Which brands are any good?cobsideting investing in a couple of pairs, but given price if they’re all crap then won’t!

Apparently the more absorbing ones can only hold 2 regular tampons worth. So I think it wouldn't be able to hold a full days worth without a pad so I feel they defeat the purpose.

Whatsallthisaboutthen · 17/04/2019 11:15

I use the Cheeky Wipes ones and they are life changing.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 17/04/2019 12:17

I bought the WUKA ones recently, wore them overnight and they really do work. No leaks. You can feel the padded part (I was hoping for some miraculous fabric that, whilst gossamer thin, nevertheless managed so soak up a bucket load) but still a good alternative. Not sure they'd be great under close fitting clothes as the padded part comes quite far up the back of the pants.

Has anyone managed to find period swimwear that doesn't break the bank? DD is a swimmer and while she hasn't started her periods yet it won't be long and I know there is no way I will get her to use a tampon at first so she will have to miss training 1 week in four which seems a shame. I've seen ads on Facebook for period swimwear but it is crazy expensive (£90ish for one swimsuit).

SirBobblyofSock · 17/04/2019 12:22

Yes, WUKA ones as I don't like skimpy pants. Not going to go into detail re periods as not everyone reading has 'above board' intentions but they work just fine.

Nearly47 · 21/07/2019 06:40

Any high Street shops sells any of these? I'd like to have a look before buying?

stucknoue · 21/07/2019 07:45

I bought mine online, not seen them yet on the high street, try boots website

Pineapplefish · 21/07/2019 07:50

Since having DC I find that my periods are much heavier and I was regularly leaking and staining my underwear, so I use these as a back up when I have a tampon or mooncup in during the heavy days (much better than towels) and on their own on my light days. So, yes, I'm a fan. They're expensive, but eventually you will make a saving as they last for a long time.

TheStakeIsNotThePower · 21/07/2019 08:06

I have cheeky wipes ones, flux and wuka. All fine, I think my faves are flux but tbh since you can get 3 pairs of cheeky wipes for the price of 1 flux or wuka they are not THAT much better. I use them mainly for nights and work, I use cloth pads and a cup too. They are definitely better than pads for night and at work I can go hours without getting time for a loo break and could fill my cup, have it leaking and soak through a big night time pad and leak through to my trousers but so far with cup and pants I've not leaked through to clothes.

Singleandproud · 21/07/2019 08:13

I bought some from Cheeky wipes to try this month, they are much cheaper than other brands (£9 a pair)They arrived after my heavier days but have been brilliant on my lighter ones. I was expecting them to feel thick like reusable towels but they don’t. The lace top ones for heavier flow days are a satin-like waterproof material on the outside with an absorbent layer on the inside. The sporty version feels just like normal cotton pant.
I’d recommend trying them.

If you do try them remember not to use fabric conditioner as it removes the waterproofing as it does on any waterproof item.

EmpressJewel · 21/07/2019 08:27

I have wuka ones and I've been really impressed with them.

Nearly47 · 21/07/2019 12:28

Don't get why they are only available onlineConfused

pinkmagic1 · 21/07/2019 12:38

2nd the swimwear?. We are off on holiday and don't want dd to miss out. She has only just started so don't want to push tampons. Modibodi have some plain bikini bottoms but they are out of stock.

ThePhoenixRises · 21/07/2019 12:42

I have Modibodi and Cheeky Wipes

Heavy days I use the Modibodi and lighter days I use the Cheeky wipes.

I think I accidentally ruined the Cheeky wipes by adding them to a tumble dryer load by mistake. They had been great for heavy days before the tumble dryer accident.

ThePhoenixRises · 21/07/2019 12:46

Ruby Love also sell period swimwear, I have never used them, just googled.

Singleandproud · 21/07/2019 16:31

I looked at reviews of period swimwear, they are no good for actually swimming in, just sitting by the pool and sun bathing.

pinegreen · 22/07/2019 10:13

Be careful with Modibodi. I made an order in mid June and they only just turned up last Friday! They didn’t despatch until last week when I checked the tracking. There was no proactive communication from them and they didn’t respond to any emails from me trying to find out where they were.

I was very careful to only order pants that were in stock. Their Facebook page is littered with identical complaints of them taking over a month to deliver recently, so just be mindful if you order.

I recently bought some for my 15-year-old from Iceni Silver, which is made in the UK, so I liked the fact that they were made close to home. Their main focus is on being cut for sport but from doing a load of research I found that they held more blood flow than the other well known brands, and as she ice skates would be more comfortable for being active. She says they are "magic" and has no idea where "it" goes. One of my best purchases, and I'll be getting for my 9-year-old when the time comes. I simply put on a 30 degree wash with an eco egg and that's it - no need for rinsing beforehand. They take a while to dry, but I guess that's to be expected. Website is www.icenisilver.com

Verbena87 · 17/06/2021 22:39

Modibodi overnight will last all day for me, then rinse cold and 30 wash. I can no longer use a cup (prolapse/birth injuries) so love having something that isn’t sweaty disposable pads.

BritInAus · 18/06/2021 00:38

Big fan of the Modibodi 'boy short' shape for night times. I'm happy with tampons for day, but always leaked at night. i'm not particularly heavy, but ALWAYS managed to leak on my sheets at night, even with a tampon plus a pad. They feel dry, and they work! And much nicer than wearing a tampon and/or pad to bed. I wear them into the shower first thing, take them off and let them rinse off in there, then pop them into the machine.
