Which nigella books do I need?

I’ve decided I need a couple of nigella cookbooks on my shelf but haven’t a clue how to pick one or two. I like cake and cooking in general, I love thinking about Christmas, I’ve never cooked chia seeds, and have a 3yo and baby so aren’t cooking that much anyway Grin. Help me!

Christmas, Domestic Goddess or Feast. Maybe all of them.

GuntyMcGee · 21/09/2018 14:46

I've got a couple of nigella books and honestly, they sit on the shelf in the kitchen and don't get used much at all.

Be got Kitchen and the Italian one and rarely use them, Mostly because her recipes are a bit extravagant, expensive and faffy for every day use.

That said, her lasagne recipe is tasty and her Christmas recipes in the Kitchen book are really good, especially the booze panettone pudding.

Your best bet is to have a look in your local library and lend one first. Or have a good old browse of them in somewhere like Waterstones and see what recipes catch your eye.

Def swerve the last few. You know how to cook avocado on toast, I am sure.
How to eat is a lovely read, but a bit bluestockinged.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/09/2018 14:48

Feast and Kitchen, definitely, the Italian one isn't that great though

Pebblesandfriends · 21/09/2018 14:49

How to eat

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/09/2018 14:49

How to eat.

The rest are more or less variations of what's in it.

gingercat02 · 21/09/2018 14:51

I love How to Eat and if you have small children there is a good section on baby and toddlers stuff. I have Nigella Bites too but don't use it much. My Mum has Express but hates it as it's quite convenience food based (doh! that's why it's fast Mother).

scaryteacher · 21/09/2018 15:06

Express, Feast, Kitchen and Christmas. I cook quite a lot form Summer as well.

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/09/2018 15:15

Feast is lovely just to read

CherryPavlova · 21/09/2018 15:18

They’re dreadful cookbooks - actually there’s not much cooking really just drooling, blindingly obvious ways of reducing cooking. I get irritated just opening them.

PavlovaFaith · 21/09/2018 15:41

Kitchen I use lots and Christmas at Christmas!

abbey44 · 21/09/2018 15:48

How to Eat. Lovely to just read, but introduced me to the revolutionary idea of mixing Marmite with butter before spreading on toast. I always have a tub of it in the fridge now.

porky1000 · 21/09/2018 15:49

Without a doubt, How to Eat.

formerbabe · 21/09/2018 15:50

I have the kitchen one and made loads of things from it!

HappyEverIftar · 21/09/2018 15:51

Express and Feast. Trust me.

evilharpy · 21/09/2018 15:52

I like Feast, Domestic Goddess, Christmas, How to Eat and Express. If I had to pick only one it'd probably be Feast.

Spreadingcudweed · 21/09/2018 15:53

How to Eat and Christmas! I think they are great cookery books. She writes really well.

DickensianHysteric · 21/09/2018 15:54

Nigella Express. I also have Forever Summer, Kitchen and How to Be A Domestic Goddess but Express is the only one I ever use these days.

timeisnotaline · 21/09/2018 17:53

So not just two then? Grin Kitchen, how to eat, feast or and Christmas. I’m Aussie so when we move back Christmas is 30 degrees warmer so feast might have more options....
I don’t think express is for me.

Didn’t mean to be so brief , I’m not mad about pre pared ingredients plus suspect that kind of thing will translate less well to Australian shopping.
4 is a lot 😮. It’s not like I’m short cookbooks Grin. Plus I need a couple of ottolenghi to fill another clear gap!

Kitchen has such a huge variety of recipes, sweet/savoury/special occasion/weeknight tea etc that it's the one Is go with for definite.
I chose Feast as the other as it's such a lovely read, the recipes are good too.
