Bloody Amazon

Long story short:

Ordered two laptops from Amazon. DH came home and there was a delivery note through the door that htey had been delivered to next door but one, with a signed name. The name is NOT the person who lives there and they don't have the parcel (I 100% trust them on this!).

Have been up and down the road to check with neighbours and also street nearby with very similar name and nothing.

Amazon require a police report as they are insistent that they were delivered to the correct adress ie us. They weren't.

Police say it's a civil matter, but they are fed up with it as this happens a lot.

WTAF are we supposed to do now?

Amazon say they have fulfilled all checks at their end eg weight of parcel when it was delivered, where it was delivered too but they cannot substantiate with any proof.

DH is phoning the bank to see if we can get the money back from VISA but that won't be until later and they can't speak to me ass it was his account.

Anyone had anything similar and manage to resolve it with Amazon.

In the meantime lesson learned to never buy anything high value from Amazon ever again.

I know this doesn't help now, but make sure you tell companies NOT to deliver to a neighbour for high value items. If this is done as a written instruction it should help.
I do think that delivery drivers should have to see id for high value goods, and record say the last four digits of the reference number on the id provided.

Check your account and see if the delivery person took a photo of the place it was delivered. That's something they've done for a while. Not sure it covers all purchases but the ones made through my prime are.

Thank you both unfortunately there is. I photo. Starting to doubt the neighbours now...

Card cover will pay out after 15 days but meanwhile we're £500 down and nothing to show for it.

Be careful that the card cover knows there is photographic evidence - just so that they don't refund you and then unexpectedly claim it back.

I'd be nicely taking the photo to the neighbours; if the courier haven't already done so.

BrieAndChilli · 21/09/2018 21:12

Things is the driver could just take a photo of the door but not actually deliver!
They should take a photo of the person takingnin the parcel or a photo of the front door open!!

Thebeautifullisette · 21/09/2018 21:12

Gosh, if the delivery person took a photo then someone is definitely lying (not just a mix-up). The question is who.

ileclerc · 21/09/2018 23:03

There's no photo, someone has the bloody package! It's just not us:(

Same thing has happened to one of our friends with amazon. Someone has signed with a random name, everyone in the street swears they don't have it. Nothing anyone can do and Amazon don't care because they said it's delivered. We don't order anything of value from Amazon now because a lot of things we've ordered haven't arrived. Unless someone is definitely home all day it's not worth ordering high value items online.

Do you know what company did the delivery? I once chased up what I thought was a package that hadn't been sent. It was new laptop that had been sent off for repair. The company said according to their records it was sent and delivered. I'd not had a note through the door but the company delivering the package had a reference on their website saying my package had been "delivered to neighbor" and the name of the neighbour several days prior. The name wasn't any of my neighbours but I knocked on all the doors anyway! Phoned laptop company back and they said it was out of their hands - I cited some shopping law I'd found on google stating it was their responsibility. I got a phone call back from an angry person telling me she was looking into the matter "as a curtesy". Later that day, within hours, my laptop was delivered. Chase it up OP.

Are the courier conpany able to ask the driver who he left it with? I got a card once saying my parcel was in the greenhouse (I don't have one) the courier company were great. They contacted the driver & then phoned back to tell me where it was. Turned out he'd just ticked the wrong box. If he did give it to a neighbour you'd hope he could say which one

toolazytothinkofausername · 22/09/2018 13:14

Not helpful, but this happens in my area too. I only get my amazon orders delivered to an amazon locker inside a bank.

pastabest · 22/09/2018 13:26

Has this just happened today? If so I wouldn't be surprised if the courier returns with them later/tomorrow.

This happened to me, only the picture they took saying they had delivered it was in an entirely different village, I knew that because it was the house my childhood best friend lived in! I knew her parents still lived there and I knew the name that was signed wasn't there's.

Anyway basically the courier came back with it later on

Blubellesmum · 22/09/2018 14:53

I'm in the US and the postal service delivers most of our Amazon. They have GPS on their scanners and can pull the exact address where something was delivered. Enquire if this a possibility.
