Croydon Cat killer?

Isn’t the Croydon Cat killer the same person as the m25 Cat killer? How have they gone from saying someone is poisoning then mutilating and then displaying the dead body and concern they will move onto humans, to now saying for 3 years they have been looking and it was just wildlife? www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/croydon-cat-killer-investigation-ends-15177947
I first read about it here a couple of years ago

I think it’s absolute rubbish that it’s caused by wildlife. How can a rabbit be removed from a hutch, and then put back in mutilated and door closed? That’s just one example. SNARL have also made a statement on their FB Page

rupertpenryswife · 20/09/2018 17:56

I agree many years ago we found a decapitated rabbit and cat and reported it to the police who suggested fox involvement, I contacted some fox experts who told me that foxes generally would not take on a cat as they are aware of the damage they could inflict, in his opinion it would only be injured cats that foxes would go for.

Furrycushion · 20/09/2018 18:00

They did say that they thought the foxes had attack injured cats. It's all a bit weird. I presume they are saying that reporting has been higher because of the publicity & this sort of thing goes on all the time?

Thankewe · 20/09/2018 18:00

I think the met’s budget was stretched but they didn’t want to say so

theconstantinoplegardener · 20/09/2018 18:03

Seems a bit odd to me too. Weren't the mutilated cats found to have raw chicken in their stomachs? Did the foxes feed the cats raw chicken?

I think the Met don't have the funds to pursue this any longer.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 20/09/2018 18:05

We have had a very lengthy discussion on the litter tray, the general consensus is that its all a load of bullshit!

Finfintytint · 20/09/2018 18:06

The cynic in me suggests the police have found a way to reduce time and effort into investigations as they just don't have the resources to continue with this.

Momotheathlete · 20/09/2018 18:12

I would love for it to be the case that there isn't someone going around killing animals, but I agree the police statement is bullshit

DaisyDreaming · 20/09/2018 18:12

I can only think the announcement is money related (most likely) or a psychological tactic to force him out (maybe I’ve just watched too many episodes of Criminal Minds with their unlimited budget and determination to catch their fictional criminal). I read that Snarl dismisses lots of reports as natural so it wasn’t like every dead animal was blamed on the killer. I will hop over to the litter box but sadly think there’s human involvement, actually is there anyone out there who doesn’t truly believe a human is involved?

Cover up.

DumptonPark · 20/09/2018 18:29

I'm 50/50 on this. I don't think people realise what foxes are capable of, and I heard of one case where there was actual footage of a fox attacking one of the claimed victims but SNARL refused to acknowledge it and blocked anyone who tried to argue with them.
Even if it is a person how can the police be expected to put so many resources on this case in the current climate?
I guess we will never know the truth.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 20/09/2018 18:32

Even if it is a person how can the police be expected to put so many resources on this case in the current climate?

Errm because people who kill animals are statistically more likely to go on to kill people. Are you suggesting they wait until this person/s kills a person before the police take better action.

Pebblespony · 20/09/2018 18:34

Are all of the reports of the attacks credible too though? Someone saying something on social media is not fact. I'm not sure the foxes around here would take a cat but I've seen some massive urban foxes that would present much more of a challenge to a cat.

Violetroselily · 20/09/2018 18:36

What a crock of shit. Presumably theyre no longer investigating and don't want to announce it.

ForalltheSaints · 20/09/2018 18:54

It is just before budget decisions are made, and I suspect over the next few weeks a few more announcements designed to get more money for next year's budget will be made.

There is a high profile missing person enquiry that will be the request for more money no doubtless soon, unless the funding covers beyond next March.

MyBeloved · 20/09/2018 19:02

So...foxes now return body parts to their owner's property, do they? Sometimes days later? And independent forensic evidence citing a modus operandi are is down to foxes too huh?

This announcement is bullshit.

Moomin8 · 31/07/2019 23:08

Bump, I had suddenly thought about this today. I also wondered if it could be a cover up.

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 31/07/2019 23:19

Yes and hang them up on doors and gate posts - those pesky foxes 🦊
