ERF seat in front passenger seat

Really boring practical issue here.

Due to having two kids in ERF seats and having fairly long legs I've had to install the two seats one in front of the other, so one in the back and one in the front seat. This is fine, they're installed correctly, all good.

The only thing is I've had to fully extend the wing mirror on that side, and whilst I can see things behind me in the same lane I can't see cars that are right behind my bumper but in the lane to the left of me! Not a problem on single carriageways, but changing from a right to left lane I have to look right over my left shoulder to the back of the car to be sure there's nothing there! I suspect this is not going to be particularly safe at high speeds on motorways for example.

What have other people done to overcome this? Is there some gadget I need to buy to extend the mirror? Or do I just need to do the whole over-the-shoulder blind spot check and drive slowly??

Thanks in advance!

You should do a blind spot check regardless.

You can mirrors that connect to wing mirrors to extend views when pulling caravans, is that the kind of thing you need?

Agree that you should always check your blind spot anyway.

We have an ERF in our car and it was a pain in our C3 Picasso as it was very difficult to see the blind spot as the ERF filled the window just where I would look. I wonder if a caravan mirror might help?

Caravan mirror

I do do a blind spot check, I really do! But now the "blind spot" is more of a whole blind SIDE with two erf seats one in front of the other. This isn't the usual blind spot check I'm having to do, it's a full on reccy of the passenger side of the car Sad

Caravan mirrors sound like exactly what I need, I'll look into it thanks!

I’m sure you have already but just to say the front passenger airbag needs to be turned off if you have a rear facing seat in it.
