Cleaning a holiday let

Quick question - would you hoover a holiday let as part of the cleaning before you leave? Obviously we have cleaned and tidied so it looks the same state as when we arrived, and emptied bins. But our party is split on whether we should hoover too. It’s a five bedroom place with two large living areas so wouldn’t be a quick job. I’ve never hoovered a holiday let before we’ve left but now I’m wondering whether doing so is the norm?

I don't but might have a run around with a vac during the holiday if it's looking bad so it's never really desperate when we leave. Tbh I would expect the owners to do a thorough clean in between guests anyway.

Not unless you have instructions to do so. I leave holiday lets tidy and wipe down kitchen surfaces but cleaning is included in the cost. I’m not paying good money to go on holiday then spending that holiday cleaning. The cleaner will hoover again anyway.

No I wouldn't unless I'd got crumbs or something everwhere. I always leave it tidy, bins emptied, washing up done and put away if no dishwasher, everything returned to where it was when I arrived but actual cleaning no.

Some will say yes, everything scrubbed and polished too.

You pay for several hours' cleaning in the price of the let so I think hoovering and scrubbing are not needed. Just a quick wipe down of kitchen etc.

You’ll be paying for cleaning in the let and cleaners will come straight in so won’t thank you for hoovering and it’s a waste of your time.

I’m sure the owners would want you lugging the vac around either!

I do but I have dogs and worry about dog hair.

Unless you've had an explosive box of coco pops type incident, no. The cleaners will have to hoover whether you have or not so it's a bit pointless.

No, and it really pisses me off when I'm looking for a holiday let and it states the price then "....£50.00 cleaning charge applies". Sorry but I'm not paying to clean your property, I will leave it in a tidy manner, sides wiped down with everything put away but I'm not paying an extra £50
