6 year old sick in morning only?

Posting here for more traffic than in health.

DS woke a few days ago complaining of stomach ache and early that morning vomited a small bit of undigested dinner from the night before.
Since then the pattern has been the same - improves during the day, eats and drinks small amounts. Sleeps fine but wakes early and dry heaves with only bile coming up. This happens several times in the morning and then he seems to improve. Saw GP yesterday and he checked him over and diagnosed good old gastroenteritis. Isn't it a bit odd to only be sick (even though it's not proper vomiting) first thing in morning, plus no diarrhoea?

Day 3 now and still the same! Never experienced a stomach bug like it.

No other symptoms of brain tumour at all - I'm very aware of the symptoms so would be extra vigilant. Thanks to those of you affected for raising awareness Thanks

Well, an update: I tried a high carb supper of beans and toast last night, then woke him with a digestive and apple juice this morning (not the healthiest but all I had to hand - my dad is diabetic and was told to have a digestive in the morning upon waking!). He then got up and had his usual breakfast of weetabix - all fine, not a hint of what had been happening the previous mornings without food. Could be coincidence but my hunch of low blood sugar might be right!

Sounds promising :)

Hopefully just a lingering weird bug then, or a touch of low blood sugar resulting from a mild bug.
