Irritate the hell out of anyone else? I have never seen it, but the songs, the pictures and the nafne make me think it will make my toes curl. Is it as cheesy and awful as it looks?

@Ovo have you seen Buffy the vampire slayer - once more with feeling?

mycelialnetwork · 22/09/2018 15:02

😆 that Honest Trailers up thread is brilliant. Thanks whoever posted it (can't scroll up as on phone). Jerk du Soleil- sums it up for me!

Red, I have!

"THEY GOT THE MUSTARD OUUUUUUT."

Love that episode. If only real life was like that. Minus the dancing to death part! Grin

Did not like at at all, could not see what all the fuss was about. In other words, could not stand it.

Proseccoagain · 22/09/2018 22:54

And I'm pretty sure that Jenny Lind wouldn't have sung that sort of song in those days. But I stand to be corrected.

Santaclarita · 22/09/2018 23:00

You can't ever take this kind of film seriously. It's purely for entertainment value. It's not going to win best film or best acting in Oscars. Don't think it even won't best song.

It's purely entertainment value. A film to put on and enjoy after a long day, to cheer you up, to not have to think much during it and just enjoy it. I think too much during the day at work, I like to try and switch my brain off and this kind of film is perfect for that. It's also rather good for exercising along to because of the songs. I love it.

OraangeSoda · 22/09/2018 23:20

The best film I've seen in ages was Spotlight which I saw on TV recently. It was about journalists uncovering child abuse in the Boston Catholic church: compelling but not an uplifting watch

Brilliant film. It's on Netflix

Is it? I’d like to watch it but can’t seem to find it on there.

PawneeParksDept · 23/09/2018 00:21

It might have left Netflix but it was on iPlayer recently might still be.

MeAgainSparkle · 23/09/2018 07:15

Oh sorry I watched Spotlight on Netflix about 6 months ago and presumed it was still on there

Rockbird · 23/09/2018 07:21

Crap film but the songs are good.

ZeroThirty · 23/09/2018 07:43

I wish Zendaya had a bigger role

It's a cheese fest and I love it Grin

SergeantPfeffer · 23/09/2018 07:58

Not just me then! The kids are obsessed but I got as far as the Buckingham palace bit and gave up. It’s just not very good. Some good song and dance numbers and that’s it.
The songs have been on repeat in our house all summer- another reason to be glad that schools are back!

pachyderm · 23/09/2018 08:08

It's a massive old load of bollocks. Jenny Lind singing like she's in the X Factor. Hugh Jackman supposed to be a young man starting out except he's 50 years old. Michelle Williams with nothing to do but gaze adoringly at the feckless man who has her living in a tenement. The entire premise of the thing.

I didn't hate it though, and the kids had fun. Zac Efron was enjoyably camp as well Grin
