Exciting thread of the evening alert.

Been looking at the instant pot after reading about it on here but then saw an advert for the King Pro. Is this as good? What's the difference apart from the price?

Starting a new job soon which means I won't be home until gone 6 so need something I can shove the tea in quickly or cook all day.

I've been looking at them too, I cant see much difference.

A normal pressure cooker would do the bulk of what people use them for anyway.

I like the fact you can delay timings and keep warm till you're ready which you can't with a normal pressure cooker.
Just can't decide!

not sure but I think the pot is lighter weight in the Kingpro....maybe even non stick
The IP one is nice burly stainless steel.

wheresmyhairytoe · 20/09/2018 16:44

I like non stick, hate scrubbing stuff.

Yes, but as it''s stainless steal you can put the instant pot pot in the dishwasher.

wheresmyhairytoe · 20/09/2018 16:55

I could if I had one 😀

Following as I have same questions

I tend to find non stick cones off and gets ruined easily and stuff still sticks to it. I’d rather have a stainless steel pot that will take some scrubbing.

I have a pressure king pro and it’s amazing! Good quality pot - I wouldn’t worry about it being non stick. We use instant pot recipes too and they’re all transferable to the pkp.

wheresmyhairytoe · 20/09/2018 17:44

Does the King Pro have the stay warm feature?

I just bought the Charles Jacobs one, £50 for 8l 17-function pot.

Pluses: works really well once you figure it out.

Minuses: you have to figure it out yourself because the instructions are total shit.

It has one yoghurt button. The seller can't provide any useful information, does anyone by any chance have this machine and can tell me what I need to do ...?

I have the P K Pro and I love it. It has the keep warm feature - switches to keep warm automatically once cooking finishes and will keep warm for up to 24 hours. You can also use the keep warm feature to slow cook, though I've noticed it cooks quicker than my old slow cooker. Otoh, I rarely use that function as the pressure cooking is so efficient that I tend to use that now, even for meals I would previously have slow cooked. Spaghetti bolognese, from turning on the browning function, to ready to serve, takes about 45 minutes, chicken fried rice, from switch on to dishing up, 15 minutes. Stews and casseroles are quick and even the cheap meat is always lovely and tender. I don't tend to use it for roasting chicken etc as I cook chicken in the halogen cooker. I've also seen people cook cakes in it etc.
Can't answer for the instant pot, but I love my PKPro.
