Diagnose me - odd sensations/tingling on body

Not sure I can even really describe it

For the last few months, I have experienced tingling/vibrating sensations on different areas of my body. It usually lasts a few minutes, sometimes longer, before stopping.

I’ve noticed it in legs, on my face, on the back of my head, and currently it’s on my gum. It’s like a vibration that goes on and off, the one on my gum currently sort of feels as though there is something crawling across it, but of course there isn’t.

Any ideas?

Anxiety?

LaBellaCinderella · 19/09/2018 21:04

I don’t think it’s anxiety. I’m not anxious tonight. And one of the times I noticed it before I was out shopping and definitely wasn’t anxious then.

That's what my nerve damage feels like but it's only my damaged leg.

I had similar and was prescribed magnesium supplements and it disappeared.

LaBellaCinderella · 19/09/2018 21:20

I already take magnesium supplements - are you on a high dose?

I had this. Tried to convince the Dentist my teeth felt like they were going to fall out. Probably a coincidence but as soon as I took a multivitamin regularly, iron and vit d tablets it stopped.

LaBellaCinderella · 19/09/2018 22:37

I already take a multivitamin, vitamin c with zinc, magnesium and calcium, and omega 3.

Maybe it’s a vitamin overload?!

Low B12? are you vegan or on a PPI?

DustyMaiden · 19/09/2018 22:39

Low b12 . I can’t digest it

I had/have this. Initially I was worried it was MS, especially when I was sent for MRIs and brain scans. It turned out to be the start of peri menopause (late 30s at the time). The tingling/crawling sensation is very common when your estrogen levels are playing silly buggars. HRT really helped. Google ‘34 symptoms of menopause ‘.

Wolfiefan · 19/09/2018 22:44

I know someone who has weird tingling. She has spinal stenosis and tinnitus.

junebirthdaygirl · 19/09/2018 22:44

Get vibrations as part of the menopause. Are you the right age for that?

LaBellaCinderella · 19/09/2018 22:58

Can I get a blood test for B12? Not vegan, no

Am 40 so guess it could be perimenopause?

Anxiety can definitely do this and even though you say you didn't feel anxious, your body reacts to stressors without you even realising it.

Rufus27 · 21/09/2018 13:50

@LaBellaCinderalla If you're 40 and other tests are clear, I'd definitely consider your hormones, especially your estrogen levels. The endocrinologist I saw said the creepy crawling feeling is very common in peri menopause. www.34-menopause-symptoms.com/#tingling-extremities
