Has anyone had this going around recently. So many people I know have had it and little ones too! It's horrible.

I had it at the start of the month, it was truly horrible. So horrible in fact that, as I was throwing up, I shat myself. Never before have I been so poorly, or so violently sick that I've shit my pants. Avoid anyone that has it for three days since the last time they were sick.

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 18:11

It really is the worst. Some kind of norovirus strain. Awful!!

OP posts:
LongSummerDays · 19/09/2018 18:34

OH has it and it's really knocked him for six. Sad

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 18:38

Yes mine did too and he never really gets unwell. I wonder what it is 🤨

TheVanguardSix · 19/09/2018 18:43

We haven’t gotten it... yet. Confused Had it in May! Dreading getting it now. It’s definitely making its horrible rounds. I really wish there was a norovirus vaccination. Sad

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 18:58

There really should be.. it seems more prevalent than the flu! Although that's probably because people have the flu jab.

Witchofzog · 19/09/2018 19:39

Where is every one in the country? (emetaphobe here who is also going on holiday soon and desperate not to catch this). Hope you all feel better soon

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 19:43

South east - Kent !

Witchofzog · 19/09/2018 19:45

Yorkshire here. It sounds terrible. I am so scared of anything vomit related. Maybe you will all be immune for a while now

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 19:57

@Witchofzog please don't worry too much, I have health anxiety and I survived this one so we will be ok. I think it's the change in seasons and new school term etc.

OP posts:
bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 19:59

Also.. mine was D as opposed to V, how that is a bit more reassurance

West London here.

I seem to get this way more often than I should. Twice a year, the whole family is hit. I went to a picnic last weekend and 3 hours in, one of the mothers announced that she had to get back home to her mum, who had been vomitting. It turned out her little boy- running around at the picnic- had been up all night before the picnic... vomitting. Confused And then another person at the picnic- this time a grandmother (I had wondered why her daughter wasn't showing up) who brought the kiddies- announced that they'd come to the picnic to get out of the flat because her daughter/the kids' mum had been vomitting non-stop. The grandkids had just recovered themselves.
My face just dropped! I felt like saying, "Thanks, in advance, you morons!" Ok that's a bit harsh but honestly, WHY WHY WHY do people come out to mingle when they've barely gotten up off the bathroom floor?
I'm just bracing for impact here. Confused

GMtoBe · 19/09/2018 20:03

Birmingham here.

Me, dh and 11 month dd had it a few weeks ago. My dh described it as "the worst week of my life". Nasty bug, felt horrendous.

bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 20:08

@TheVanguardSix couldn't agree more! It's just so selfish.. and common sense not to want to infect others... surely?!

OP posts:
bruceybigtrotter · 19/09/2018 20:09

@GMtoBe aw sorry to hear you've been hit by it.. and your little one. Hope you're all better now!

witch I'm sorry to tell you, I'm in West Yorkshire 😢 most of the folk I know have had it, to some degree. It seems to be worse in some people.

DD got it from the soft play first, she was sick twice, then slept it off all in the space of 8 hours... Then her dad got it and was off his feet vomiting for 24... Then I got it, maybe 12 hours after her dad started with it and was wiped out for 48 hours (see the tale above about how lovely it was).

Invest in some hand sanitiser and anti back hand wipes. I'm point blank refusing to go anywhere near anyone who's got it or recently had it and may still be contagious.

I got flamed by the extended family recently for being awful and not going to my nieces birthday party and refusing to allow DD to go, the day after she was vomiting all day (about a week after I recovered). Got called all sorts. Low and behold, within two days, everyone who went was throwing their guts up and shitting through the eye of a needle. Who's the idiot now MIL? 😂

Witchofzog · 19/09/2018 22:07

Oh no. I fly from Birmingham. Apparently plane trays are THE worst for lurgy transmission Envy

Some people are so blase about d & v aren't they? I don't get how people can get annoyed at those trying to avoid contracting it or those who turn up to something a few hours after vomiting. It's so selfish. I remember a colleague last year who sat perched on my desk chatting and then revealed they had just stopped being sick after being ill all night. I spent 2 days waiting and worrying about catching it myself which for an emetaphobe is a lifetime

Witchofzog · 19/09/2018 22:09

@rubadub I am South York's (hopeful emoji)
.@Brucey. I am happy with the d part. Well not happy but I can handle that 😊

MirandaGoshawk · 20/09/2018 09:19

Yes, last November I went for a pub meal and the waitress gave the wrong plates to me & the person opposite, leaned over them to sort it out, then said in her defence, "I shouldn't be here really, I've got a bug"! But she had breathed all over my food. Great. I came down with it a couple of days later and it was with me for over a week. Angry

Believeitornot · 20/09/2018 09:26

You may as well not bother have an vaccine for the noro becaus it isn’t always the noro people have....

I employ much much stricter hand hygiene at this time of year. I’m trying to make the dcs wash their hands when they get in from school and will not put my hands in my mouth or eat with my hands without washing.

I also have rubber gloves in the bathroom for dealing with vomiting incidences and loads of bleach in. If I have the kids sick, I’ll make sure my mouth and is covered as best as I can as that’s how it can transmit.

I’ve had noro virus twice - both times when I was really tired and run down, commuting to work with a baby/toddler. Awful - knocked me for 6!!

Witchofzog · 20/09/2018 12:02

@Miranda. I would have complained. That is outrageous. There should be a 48 hour rule when you handle food

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 20/09/2018 12:06

Hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes don't work on norovirus. The only thing that is effective is bleach for your cleaning, hand washing or there is a foam that Boots sell that contains an ingredient that kills noro. Normal hand sanitiser and wipes do not contain this ingredient so are not effective at killing the virus

Mumof1andacat · 20/09/2018 12:19

I work in a hospital a second what the person above has said. Wash hands with soap and water then use hand sanitizer

HeckinGoodDoggo · 20/09/2018 12:29

You have to eat it to get it - so no touching faces at all. Washing hands doesn’t kill it (not hot enough) but the physical act of washing properly rinses it down the drain.

captainpantbeard · 20/09/2018 12:54

DS had horrible painful diahorrea and was violently sick at the same time last week. The whole thing, from first complaining of stomach ache, to the end of the D&V, lasted a couple of hours and he felt absolutely fine afterwards.

Do you think this was a bug? We had all eaten the same stuff for 2 days so couldn't imagine it was food poisoning but seemed to come and go so quickly. Still kept him off school for 2 days because if it was a bug I wouldn't have wanted to spread it - was bloody awful. I think he thought he was dying :(
