Night feeds

I'm currently doing all the night feeds. DH goes to work and I'm happy to do them (although the does the odd weekend night). Sometimes he does the early Mornings. He's really good in that he does a feed when I ask.

DC currently wakes about 3am. I get up to do the bottle (using Tommee tippee perfect prep) so takes a couple of minutes. In that time DC is crying and DH is holding them for comfort. During the day I leave DC to cry but I am learning to do a bottle one handed.

DH doesn't Mind me leaving dc to cry (!!), but as he's working ft I want to eliminate night time disruption as much as possible. I do often come back with a bottle to find DH cradling DC.

So what does everyone do when DC are crying at 3am for a bottle. I could do the bottle while holding them but i think it could wake them more (although it might not so I'll try tonight) and to be honest it's quicker to do it without dc. There isn't anywhere I can lay them in the kitchen but I suppose I could make provision.

My lovely DH often changes the nappy while I get a bottle and he's happy with this but I would love him to sleep throughout the night as I sleep when DC sleeps and I cope better with lack of sleep than he does.

Bottom line is I feel guilty when I walk in the bedroom with a bottle and DH is up comforting DC when he has to be awake for work the next day.

I put him in his cot in his room whilst i run down and make a bottle. Or if my dp is on earlies, i put the prep machine in the nursery and change DS whilst the bottle fills. He sleeps in a next to me in our room atm.

Does DC wake at predictable times? Maybe try setting an alarm to wake up before they do.

Or make the bottle for the next feed immediately after feeding and try feeding cold?

So is mine. But we feed him in his room to avoid waking each other then put him back to bed in our room

I hate the prep machine. I think it's lazy parenting and why do people need a machine to make a bottle for them?
I've always made bottles in advance and stored them in the fridge.
During the night I would take dc downstairs, put the kettle on to boil and get the bottle from the fridge. I'd put the bottle in to heat up, and while it did I'd change his nappy. By the time that was done the bottle was ready. And I'd feed him. I could very easily hold him in one arm and do the bottle with the other. Not hard at all

Happy mummy if you hate the prep machine you will despise what I did 😳😳
We used those ready made cartons so all I had to do was tip one into a bottle and then feed babies. It added up I know but for four months was amazing and meant didn’t have to get up if nappy was ok!
