So I thoroughly enjoyed and ended up twitching from the thread about someone's neighbours washing line was a mess. And the replies still haunt me - on a swing set?!

Anyway watching teletubbies this afternoon and the video bit was a little girl hanging the washing out with her dad and I found myself shouting at the screen worse than my husband watching Man Utd losing Blush

Attached pictures to see if you share my outrage! (Please excuse the mess my ds been his own little hurricane today).

Tops by the shoulders and dress by the ribbon ties AngryShock

I do have soft grip pegs from Lakeland, I still get marks!

antipoddy · 18/09/2018 22:36

The only pegs that hold in the wind (where I am) are the ones that leave marks Sad... so I'm all for putting pegs in less visible places - I just wish DH would figure out what's visible /what's not ....after 17 years Grin

RockySpeed · 18/09/2018 22:40

AND mismatched pegs

faints

CountFosco · 18/09/2018 22:49

Do actors not ever do their own washing? A pivotal scene in Mum was ruined by Leslie Manville's atrocious hanging.

Hang from the waist (some dresses may be exempt from this rule), and (glares at DH) knickers on the inside of your whirly gig, not on the outside for everyone to see. Oh, and the other thing DH does is ignore the seams on t-shirts so they end up all twisted. And he doesn't give things a good flap before hanging so, e.g sleeves are sometimes all crumpled up. it's amazing I'm still with him really!

chickedychicked · 18/09/2018 22:51

I have leifheit pegs and I've never had marks. Not too expensive either

ThankyouwitharecaptalR · 18/09/2018 23:03

I peg tops by the hem (I've had washing line marks across t-shirts), any marks are barely noticeable then, long sleeves are pegged up tho. It's been 10 years since I've used an iron and getting it out just for peg marks is not happening! Trousers are hung by leg or waist band, underwear get their own section on the whirlygig because it's neat 😁

My neighbour's washing has Been out for nearly 2 weeks, they aren't on holidayShock

TheNoodlesIncident · 18/09/2018 23:25

MY pegs are soft grip in a variety of complementary colours, so the effect is always pleasing no matter what colour pegs are used on each garment.

It's a shame I don't have a washing line any more and tumble dry the hell out of everything, really.

TheNoodlesIncident · 18/09/2018 23:30

On a slightly sourer note, I made a peg bag in domestic science and gave it to my grandmother, as DM got DSis's effort. Well, would you believe after my poor gran passed away, my aunt snaffled the peg bag that I made, saying, "I'll have this, you've already got one" to my DM.

It still rankles

That's all the peg stuff I've got. You're all welcome.

I hang some tops by the shoulders as I find some can stretch and become out of shape when hung by the bottom.
Jeans are always hung by the waist so the breeze can get in and dry them properly.
I love to see flat sheets hung properly and billowing on the line, but we've only got fitted sheets that dont have the same effect :(
I think Anthea Turner has a video on youtube on how to hang washing.

elephantoverthehill · 19/09/2018 18:15

I thought the mission statement for the BBC was to 'Inform, Educate and Entertain'. The clip from this programme is downright ill-informed, provides poor educational standards and has not served to entertain us in the slightest, in fact it has enraged the OP. Ok so OP's Ds may have enjoyed it. Listen out for my letter on 'Points of View'.

MargaretDribble · 19/09/2018 18:22

Your DHs peg washing on the line? Shock

PlinkPlink · 19/09/2018 18:45

Can we also talk about clothes horse washing?

It drives me mad when it's not done properly!!

Lighter/smaller items on the bottom racks
Larger/heavier/thicker items on the top

Clothes MUST be unravelled and levelled out, not just stuck on higgledy piggledy!!! Angry otherwise it takes a week to dry one load of bloody washing!!!

And breathe.... 😂

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 19/09/2018 20:42

@PlinkPlink you need a Lakeland heated airer they're amazing!!

Shock they look amazing!!! OH has now just bought one because I started harping on about it! 😂😂

Thank you @GiraffeObsessedBaby

GiraffeObsessedBaby · 19/09/2018 21:34

I love ours. We had a washer dryer and it died and couldnt fit a dryer and a washer separately so we treated to a Samsung ecobubble and a heated airer. And we survived first baby born in November with all the washing that comes with it without a single issue. I love it!

(Added bonus is it warms whatever room it's in too lol saves on heating)
