London Hotels

Any recommendations for a hotel in London for a family visiting for a week? We'll be doing all the touristy things (open to suggestions of things to do as well).

Ibis hotels are fairly good value (if that's an issue). There's one at Euston and there's one at Greenwich - which will mean you're near the Maritime Museum, Greenwich Park etc. and you can do a boat trip from Greenwich to Westminster for the Eye and Aquarium and South Bank etc. And you're in the right neck of the woods for the Tower of London.

No doubt there are other Ibis hotels but these are the ones I've used.

Thank you. Will have a look at them.

If you’re staying for a week, can you get a self catering place - air b n b or similar?

I have stayed in the premier inn at Belsize Park with the family and that is very good value and a quiet location, yet easy to get into town, but I wouldn’t want to spend whole week in a family room there!

Any particular area you'd like to be in, do you need to get trains or tubes anywhere. Are you arriving by train, if so what station.

I'm just having a look at services apartments etc. Quite surprised at how good the prices seem to be.

Ibis at Euston is closed, due to knocked down for HS2. We always book Premier Inns

We're going to fly in. Arrive at Heathrow. Hoping to be fairly central but we're really open to suggestions.

How about a family room at premier inns, kids get breakfast free, what ages are dc.

wheresthechocolate · 18/09/2018 14:08

They're 15, 13 and 11 so an included buffet breakfast would probably be a good option. DS15 seems to never be full!

What about the Hilton in Paddington? You can get the Heathrow express to Paddington Station and there is a connecting door into the hotel.

HoleyCoMoley · 18/09/2018 14:12

Paddington would be a good area, it's only 15min from the airport on the Heathrow express. It's very central, near Hyde park, Kensington gardens, museums, underground.

Check the T&Cs of kids eat free as sometimes they are only available for under 12s

Prices change so much in London. We have had good prices at Holiday Inn (Kensington and Bloomsbury), Novotel (Tower Bridge) and Premier Inn (near Brick Lane). However, sometimes the prices there are high! So, look for deals.

When my daughter stayed in London, near Kings Cross, for her degree show, they rented an apartment between them and that was very reasonable. She used booking.com but I guess airbandb would be similar.

We use airbandb quite a bit now but haven't seen to London since starting to use it, so have no particular recommendations.

Love the idea of the connecting door from the station to the Hilton. The reviews look great. Thank you.

Will definitely check the T&Cs.

Just with Paddington, if anyone has mobility issues ask for rooms near the lift. Some rooms can be a good trek from the lifts.
