Did I just make myself look like a weirdo?

I'm a dog owner and regularly see a couple from around the corner who also have a dog. We chat but we're not friends IYSWIM.

Anyway, I just saw the woman. Their dog was attacked by another dog over the weekend and the woman was saying that she's trying to re-arrange work to work from home as much as possible.

I work from home so I said that I'd be happy to drop in and sit with her dog for a bit so she doesn't feel too sad by herself. Then I came home, wrote my number on a bit of paper and dropped it into her house.

Now I'm worried that I've made myself look like a right weirdo - too eager and a bit over-friendly. Have I?

Sorry if that's a dumb question, I grew up with a mother who was very much focused on keeping yourself to yourself, never letting anyone know any of your business and not getting involved in anyone else's life. So I struggle to know where are the boundaries of being friendly/helpful and just plain weird Grin

Not wierd at all. I made a good friend with someone in my street ages ago because I saw an ambulance taking someone away from her house, and I knew she had several small children. I dropped a note through her letterbox offering help. She rang to thank me-and we became friends.

In her situation I would be delighted to receive your offer of help. It is neighbourly and definitely not weird.

Thank you, you're making me feel so much better.

God, I could slap my mother with a wet fish sometimes for the weird attitudes she had.

I see normal people doing things like this all the time without it being awkward or weird but I just always feel like whenever I do things like this, I'm making some kind of massive social faux pas. Grin
