Is this a healthy breakfast?

I'm so cynical of health claims but not got a good benchmark for what's 'good' for sugar / protein.

I know eggs on toast / porridge etc is better but relative to other cereals, how do you think this stacks up??

Is this a healthy breakfast?

I suppose it depends on who for, what they are going to be doing, when they are next going to eat, and what they are having with it. So I don't think your question is answerable-sorry.

Sounds pretty good to me, high in protein and reasonable amount of fibre, quite low calorie. 20g carbs fine but 7g sugar is quite high for that size portion. Too high for a child but fine for an adult.

For me though no, I try not to eat sugar on a morning as I find I crave it all day then!

A serving would give you about quarter of your recommended daily sugar allowance. I don’t think it’s that bad though and you could be eating far worse

It's for me - post run refuel so I'm not averse to a bit of sugar.

The packet claims it's a protein cereal so it sounds like it's true!

It was also really yummy!

I go with the NHS guidelines which is:

Per 100g

5g of sugar
3g of fat

Yeah, the protein is great there. 27g per 100g. But the sugar!!!!! 14.2g of sugar!

PlinkPlink · 17/09/2018 12:14

Sorry 16g of sugar. Even worse Grin

Try plain porridge oats, Greek yoghurt and fruit. Sot it in the fridge overnight. Naturally occurring sugars with the fruit (though I'd recommend including the less sugary ones like berries).

If you have a sweet tooth like I do, I add cinnamon and some organic maple syrup.

Most cereals are loaded with sugar. It's astonishing. I didn't realise it myself until I got gestational diabetes and had to look at everything.
