Coldsore and babies

Wonder if you guys can offer some advice, I've just scared myself googling.

For the past few hours my lip has felt a bit tingly, like I've burnt it but I've not eaten anything hot, and it's just dawned on me that it could be a coldsore. I can see a little discolouring on my lip, but nothing on the skin around it.

What's worrying me is that I am a single mum to a 3 month old and, google tells me that coldsores are extremely infectious, and also that to babies they are often fatal. I've kissed my son a few times in the last few hours before I realised what this might be.

I'll call my GP tomorrow, and nip to the pharmacy for Zovirax but I don't know what else I can do. I live rurally, zero public transport on a Sunday so no pharmacies open on a Sunday evening even if I could get to them.

Can anyone offer advice on what else I can do?
I can't cover it as it's on my lip, so nothing will stick, I can't not touch my son as I'm a lone parent. I will of course try not to touch my lip and remember to frequently wash hands

There's nothing else you can do. Whilst we need to stop other people kissing babies, many Mums/Siblings have cold Sores and the Babies come to no harm.

Go the Chemist tomorrow and get advice about symptoms in Newborns. In the Babies that have died, its been realised too late, what it was.

But you're in the ball with this.

You can get coldsore patches from the chemist's, so at least you can put a barrier between them and your baby and stop worrying too much.

In the meantime, high-percentage alcohol (gin, vodka etc.) on a Q-tip and dab it onto the tingly part, then after a few minutes use the other side of the Q-tip to dab a little bit of honey on. If nothing else, it works wonders on coldsores and makes them go away quite quickly.
