Removing the smell of vomit?

LittleMe03 · 16/09/2018 07:14

DSS was sick during the night all over his carpet. I cleaned it best I could and removed anything splashed with vomit and put what I could straight in the washing machine. I've just got up and went to his room to check on him and even though his carpet is now visibly clean the smell of vomit is really strong even though his window has been open all night too.

I have no carpet cleaner and the supermarket doesn't open until 10.30 I think with it being a sunday. Anybody have any tips or tricks that might help remove the smell?

I have googled it but the only thing I have out of the suggestions I read was vinegar... I'm not sure I want his room to smell like vinegar either! Confused

I’ve found bicarb to be good, spread a good covering over the affected area and leave for as long as you can (a day if possible) before hoovering up.

I'd rather the smell of vinegar over the smell of sick. Windows open. Let the room air out too.

I too have had success with bicarb

Sprinkle bicarb soda on the carpet, leave for 20 mins, maybe walk it in a bit, and vacuum. I think Shake'n'Vac was just lavender scented bicarb.

No bicarb Sad might have to be vinegar for now until shops open.

Biological washing powder works brilliantly

LittleMe03 · 16/09/2018 07:45

Ooh thanks @Greywacke I will give that a go.

My LO was sick all over her aunties brand new hall carpet Confused. I mixed washing powder with cold water so it was like a paste. Gently rub it all over. Took the smell away.
