Room size vs number of children.

Just wanted to check if this set up is okay in the eyes of others.

3 children, aged 5, 3 and 1. All in one room approx 3.5m x 3.2m.

5 and 3 are on an ikea kura, adapted in to a bunk. 1 year old (2 in jan) will be in a cot bed with the sides off.

They all fit in nicely, with room for clothes and some room to play.

The reason I want to check is because one child is not a resident child and it's all going through courts.

In my eyes it's perfectly fine for the next 3 years or so. By then the eldest child in the house will likely be moving to uni (he's 16) and there will be a small box room which we could utilise depending on what his plans are. We will also likely be in a position to move house to a 4 bed or similar. So for young children, right now, is this set up fine?

I’d say so aye. In our old house DD (lived there) shared a similar sized room with DSDs (they live with their Mum and had bunks in the room) and they all managed fine.

In the new house they all have their own rooms (DSDs are now teens and choose to come separately because they want a bit of space from each other) and they complain they miss sharing!

Inevitably, despite having their own rooms, sometimes one will creep into another’s room and they’ll kip together for “old times sake” Grin

Of course it’s fine. When they’re older they will need their own space but young kids often like sharing

Thanks! Will stop fretting too much then!
