Thyroid - can't shift the weight!

Has anyone any positive stories of weight loss with hypothyroid?! I've been on medication for nearly two years. TSH has slowly come down but has stalled at around 3. I'm on 100mg of thyroxine and doc refuses to up the meds any further as the TSH is within normal range.

Some symptoms slightly better, definitely less brain fog but I just can't shift the weight I've gained. Im about a stone/stone and a half over weight - only way I can lose anything is to eat around 1000 calories a day but that feels too low to be sustainable and I end up being tired and very grumpy! I exercise a couple of times a week, although could do more of that. Short of upping the meds, which I can't do without the docs say so - what can I do? It's making me feel awful, my face is puffy and I feel so unhealthy. Anyone successfully lost weight with underactive thyroid? Any tips?

I was the same - could not lose the weight. I then had a vitamin
d test and it was very low. Not long after taking
vitamin D3 the weight just disappeared. I don't know if it was just a coincidence but it worked.

I think if your TSH is still at 3 then that is too high. I was told it had to be at 1 or even under. You need a review if your medication.

I hope you find a solution. I went undiagnosed for 8 years and it was hell.

I thought after being on levothyroxine the weight would just melt away but it took a bit of effort. What I have found though is it doesn't go on as easy and stays off even after over indulging for a bit. I've got a stone left to lose too.

Maybe I need to try and different doctor as I too thought it should be lower than 3, but he insisted that it was perfectly fine and it would be dangerous to medicate more. Just kept trying to suggest that I was depressed! My try gluten free as well and see if that helps. Just fed up of looking in the mirror and looking, as well as feeling, so unhealthy - with my dry skin and puffy face Sad
