Help - how on earth do I disconnect a dishwasher?

I have a new one being delivered in 3 hours and need to disconnect the old one but it seems it's a lot more complicated than I had anticipated! Google says there will be one rubber hose, but there appears to be 2 - one seems to be going to the washing machine, and neither look like they'll disconnect easily.

Can anyone do an idiot's guide, please?!

There should be a connection to the cold water inlet and a connection for the waste water

abbsisspartacus · 15/09/2018 10:01

Isn't it like a washing machine?

Pinkkahori · 15/09/2018 10:06

I'm not sure but check if you need to turn the water off first.
I removed our old one and installed new one.
There should be a connection that you unscrew to disconnect the water inlet. My outlet hose just sits in a pipe so I lifted that out into a bucket in case there were dregs of water left. It wasn't too difficult.
Can you take a photo of the pipes?

Yes you will need to turn the cold water off first

WrongKindOfFace · 15/09/2018 10:09

The water supply usually just unscrews from the water pipe. The waste water pipe may unscrew or unclip. Don’t disconnect at the dishwasher end.

If it’s really old there is a possibility it has two water pipes - hot and cold.

Nottotheirstandards · 15/09/2018 10:10

Turn the cold water off at the wall end of the rubber pipe. Twist and take off the rubber pipe again on the wall end. Then go to the other pipe and twist this off.Make sure you have something for any residue water to fall into when you take it off. This is the waste water. Unplug the plug and job done.

Nottotheirstandards · 15/09/2018 10:11

If all else fails YouTube it.

NotDavidTennant · 15/09/2018 10:16

There should be a ridged hose to let waste water out and a smooth hose to let cold water in.

theduchessstill · 15/09/2018 10:25

Thank you all - YouTube confuses me more! There are two ridged pipes... The cold water - is that turned off under the sink (the stopcock?) Think I may have to get a dishwasher-man out...

Take a photo.

dementedpixie · 15/09/2018 10:34

One ridged pipe will be for your washing machine and one for the dishwasher. You will have a smooth one connected to the cold water inlet

dementedpixie · 15/09/2018 10:36

You don't need to turn off the whole stopcock. There should be a pipe that connects to the cold water that has a wee blue lever and that will stop the flow to that pipe

My ridged pipe and the wee blue lever that connects to my dishwasher

God, needs a clean behind thereBlush

To the left is the washing machine and one pipe looks like that's where it's going. So I will need to disconnect that too?

Ah that's really clear thanks Demented. I obviously need to move the washing machine and that blue bit must be behind there .

What does the back of the dishwasher look like? Picture?

dementedpixie · 15/09/2018 10:48

Was the blue pipe on the floor connected to the dishwasher? The other end should have the blue lever

theduchessstill · 15/09/2018 10:54

That's both pipes - they go in to the bottom of the dishwasher. The blue pipe was never connected to it- I haven't touched it!

Is that the only connections to the dishwasher apart from the power cable? I wonder if one if them is the water inlet and the other the waste. You'll need to move the washing machine I think to see what connections are behind it

dementedpixie · 15/09/2018 10:58

I think the covered one might be the water inlet one. What make/model is your dishwasher?

dementedpixie · 15/09/2018 10:59

The one going into the pipe on the wall is the waste pipe so the other must be for the inlet water

Member · 15/09/2018 11:05

The ridged one that has a covering looks like an aqua stop hose, it will be that that is connected to the water inlet pipe. Follow it up to the metal pipe on the wall. The blue lever should be nearby, turn the lever 90 degrees/1/4 turn to shut off water. Unscrew hose from inlet pipe. Take other ridged pipe out of plastic drainage pipe and place in a basin to allow residual water to drain. Unplug electrics - done

Member · 15/09/2018 11:08

Aqua stop hose

So there is probably a plastic reservoir near where the hose is screwed onto the pipe. Any luck?

theduchessstill · 15/09/2018 12:09

Right, having pulled the washing machine out I can see it all exactly as you have described. The blue lever thing I need to turn is there, but it won't budge. Which way should I be turning it? Thank you both so much btw Flowers Flowers.
