In April? The bride may or may not be pregnant by then. What route would you take? They want a beach for a week of it. Budget around £3,000. Or would you go somewhere else?

You/she wouldn't be able to go to the Kruga as pregnancy safe anti malarials aren't suitable. Cape Town/Garden Route fine though.

You could do safari at Madikwe Game Reserve which doesn’t need anti malarials and will offer a similar experience to Kruger.

Garden Route is wonderful with stunning beaches (particularly Plettenberg). You could also consider going to Mauritius - there are regular flights from Joburg.

I was in SA in April this year, did Johannesburg, Kruger and Cape Town.
Spent a little time in Pretoria, went to Glen Afric to walk with elephants which was amazing.
Weather in Johannesburg and Cape Town was quite similar, not hot enough for lying on a beach!
Kruger was bloody roasting, 30-37 most days. None of us other than my daughter took anti malaria tablets.

Do you drive around yourself or take tours?

South Africa in April will be fantastic. However you might find £3000 a bit low as the flights alone could cost as much as £2000 depending on exactly when you go. At best, it will cost £1500 fly there for 2 people.

Spending 10 days in and around cape town will offer plenty of opportunity for beach and lovely day trips, or a few night, in the winelands. You could also go.up the garden route as suggested and there are various game reserves around there too.

Being pregnant will not be a problem at all. And in unlikely event of problems private medical care is excellent and will be covered by your travel insurance.

Also, try to fly direct either to joburg or cape town. However, if trying to.avoid Kruger I would go straight to cape town and hire a.car. then you can drive around cape town and the winelands, and travel up the garden route if required. If.you fly to joburg you will need a connecting flight to cape town (2 hours flying).

Sorry, keep seeing other questions. Definitely hire a car but you can hire a tour guide as needed or use uber too.

We flew Edinburgh to Johannesburg return for less than £500 each with KLM. Return flights to Cape Town from Johannesburg were about £100 each.
We drove ourselves round Kruger. Car hire was quite reasonable.

EDINBURGH to Johannesburg with BA is about £480 right now which is good.

Probably cheaper if you go from an airport in England?

sexnotgender · 14/09/2018 18:40

Heathrow to Cape Town is just over £500 again with BA. Definitely a good time to buy if you are sure of where you are going.
